The National High School Judo Tournament kicks off in episode 4 of Ippon Again!, titled “With the Three of Us, We’ll Be Fine”. Michi reassures both Sanae and Towa during their matches and cheers them on.
They win the first rounds and proceed to the next. The girls from Kasumigaoka also win the first round and both schools face each other as opponents.
Sanae loses the first round of their second match but Towa faces Erika with determination. Both the girls remember their time during middle school and think of apologizing to each other.

Episode 5 Speculation
Episode 5 is titled “Judo Feels So Wonderful, Doesn’t”. Towa and Erika’s match is at their climax and only the last 10 seconds are left. Towa will try to win with an ippon seoi but Erika might be able to counter her.
If Towa’s move turns into a waza-ari, they might tie. After the match, they will probably apologize to each other, after coming to terms with everything.
Michi’s match is next and she will be against Ami. She seems to be a difficult opponent and Michi will have her work cut out for her. Michi may be able to get their team to victory if she wins by an ippon as she wanted.

Episode 4 Recap
The national Judo competition starts. While practicing, Michi, Towa, and Sanae see the Kasumigaoka girls winning their first match by a perfect victory. Sanae prepares to fight as their lead but is very nervous. Michi and Towa reassure and encourage her. Sanae realizes her nervousness is gone and they all cheer.
Both Sanae and Towa win and Michi’s match ends in a tie, so their team wins the first round. During their break, Michi can’t contain her excitement and gushes about Towa’s and Erika’s swift moves. Ami and Seno tell Erika that they want to see her smile and they practice their moves too.
Sanae tells Towa that she will win her round so that Towa can take it easier. However, Seno turns out to be faster and stronger than her so she loses and Michi cheers her up. Towa faces Erika as the middle of their team.
Towa remembers her time in middle school when she has to choose a club activity. While she was touring the clubs, she saw Erika practicing alone in the practice hall and got entranced by her. Erika brings her in and tells her to give Judo a go. She ties a Judogi on Towa and tells her how it grants her courage which Towa never forgot.
They start their match, and everyone looks with bated breath as neither of them gains a point for quite a while, since both are attacking so skillfully and nimbly.
Towa sees an opening but remembers how Erika mistook her expression during one of their match in middle school as though she was looking down on her when it wasn’t her intent. Erika takes the chance and scores a waza-ari.
The referee gives them time to tie their uniforms again properly. Michi and Sane encourage Towa to play like her usual self. The match restarts and Towa apologizes to Erika in her mind for not playing up to par after she was chosen in her place in middle school.
Erika thinks of how she was childish towards Towa. They both promise to apologize to each other after winning, and think back on their happy moments together.
About Mou Ippon!
Mou Ippon! is a manga series by Yu Muraoka that debuted in the Weekly Shonen Champion magazine in October 2018. It received an anime adaptation in January 2023.
The series begins by showing how Michi, Towa, and Sanae, three middle-school girls became friends due to their love of judo. While Michi wanted to leave the sports, the other two reminded her of the feeling of ippon. Together, they constitute the judo club in their school.
