Veteran Final Fantasy players will enjoy the reimagined romance system in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth which is based on the original concept. Bonds of Friendship, as it is called now, will offer several romance options. The character you prefer most will determine the Gold Saucer Date Night cutscenes in Chapter 8 and 12.
Tifa Lockhart is one of the six characters available for the Gold Saucer dates. She is a loyal member of the Avalanche, a secret organization that is against Shinra. After being a factor in the fall of the Sector 7 plate, she leaves Midgar, looking for a new purpose.
To romance Tifa, Cloud needs to have the highest relationship level with her in Chapter 8 and Chapter 12. Here’s a few ways to increase your bond with Tifa:

There are six important conversations with Tifa in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. There’s a correct option, a neutral option and a wrong option. The right answer will boost your romance with Tifa significantly whereas the neutral one will increase it just a little. The wrong option will not help your cause.
1. Chapter 2 – A New Journey Begins
Where: Standing in front of the mako tank in the Mako Tank Plaza in Village Center
Dialogue: “This tank remind you of anything?”
Options:
- ‘The place I made that promise to you.’ (Correct)
- ‘The water tower in Nibelheim.’ (Neutral)
- ‘Any other mako tank.’ (Wrong)
2. Chapter 4 – Dawn of a New Era
Where: In Tifa’s room at the Inn
Dialogue: “Do you remember a guy named Emilio?”
Options:
- ‘Only person from the village I remember is you.’ (Correct)

3. Chapter 6 – Fool’s Paradise

5. Chapter 10 – Watcher of the Vale

Side Quests
While these side quests might seem irrelevant, they do increase Tifa’s bonds. Here’s all the odd jobs you need to do:
1. A Rare Card Lost (Chapter 2 )
Area: Grasslands region
Objective: Help the bartender Vash recover his prized possessions from the Queen’s Blood collection– the Chocobo and Moogle cards.
2. Dreaming of Blue Skies (Chapter 4)
Area: Junon region
Objective: Find the best offering to the great condor.
You must finish When Words Won’t Do and enter the Crow’s Nest to access this side quest.
3. Calling All Frogs (Chapter 4)
Area: Junon region
Objective: Eliminate enemies in the area so that kids can play safely and then clear the first level of Jumpfrog.
4. Bodybuilders in a Bind (Chapter 7)
Area: Northern Corel region
Objective: Get rid of the monsters near the gym.
This side quest is available after completing Rendezvous in Costa Del Sol.
5. My White-Haired Angel (Chapter 11)
Area: Nibelheim region
Objective: Find Fluffy and her kittens
6. Sand and Circuses (Chapter 12)
Area: Corel region
Objective: Stop a human trafficking operation and help out Leslie.
You need to complete Trouble in Paradise to unlock this side quest.
7. Gold Cup or Bust (Chapter 12)
Area: Corel region
Objective: Win the Gold Cup.
You need to complete Esoteric Secrets of the Elders to unlock this side quest.
Synergy Abilities and Skills
Try out synergy skills and abilities with Tifa to increase your affinity with her.
1. Synergy Skills
- Slip and Slide: Dodge at the right time and deliver a counter attack with your partner.
- Soaring Flurry: Perform a jumping attack with your partner at faraway enemies.
- Heavenly Ascent: Perform a jumping attack with your partner and launch enemies in the air.
2. Synergy Abilities:
- Relentless Rush: Cloud fiercely launches Tifa at an enemy to attack.
- Synchro Cyclone: Cloud and Tifa deliver a spinning attack by jumping in the air.
Main Story Objectives
1. Chapter 4 – Dawn of a New Era
In the Inauguration Parade, you must score higher than your opponents in all formations. The final score to win must be 101,000.
2. Chapter 6 – Fool’s Paradise
Cloud must match his outfit with Tifa’s swimwear:

Choose the team with Tifa and Red XIII in the boss fight in Costa Del Sol.
3. Chapter 12 – A Golden Key
Get a high score in the Loveless act to improve your bond with Tifa. If Cloud has a stronger affinity with Tifa then she will accompany you through the chapter. If the affinity is more than 50%, the standard cutscene will be replaced with an intimate scene.
Gold Saucer Date Night with Tifa
You can only have a Gold Saucer Date Night with Tifa if your relationship level with her is the highest. Depending on the affinity, you will either experience a standard date or an intimate date.
1. Chapter 8
At some point in the chapter, Tifa will knock on your door. After that, a small date will begin.
2. Chapter 12
Once again, Tifa will knock on Cloud’s door. The duo will go on a wholesome date which will end with a sweet kiss shared at the top of the ferris wheel-type ride.
