Elden Ring has several talismans– unique accessories which can bestow special abilities. Thanks to the latest expansion Shadow of the Erdtree, there are a total of 154 talismans available in the game. These cannot be upgraded but some do have a more powerful version. Every talisman has a distinct feature. It is completely up to the player on how they wish to utilize it.
There are different ways to obtain these talismans. While it will take you hours to go through each one of them, let’s take a look at the Concealing Veil Talisman in Elden Ring.
How to obtain the Concealing Veil Talisman?
You can obtain the Concealing Veil Talisman by defeating the Black Knife Assassin in Sage’s Cave. Head to the location and eliminate the boss at the end of the cave. The talisman will be dropped soon after.
How to find the Black Knife Assassin?
The Black Knife Assassin is one of the two bosses in Sage’s Cave Dungeon. It is located in the Altus Plateau. Just north of the Abandoned Coffins, there’s a shallow lake. It should be unmissable thanks to the Spirit Jellyfish hovering around.
Once you enter the cave, you will encounter Necromancer Garris. Only when you have defeated him will you proceed further.
How to defeat the Black Knife Assassin?
To Elden Ring players, the Black Knife Assassin is no stranger. However, this time, it’s a bit tricky. This particular boss is completely invisible to the naked eye.
The Black Knife Assassin has a significant advantage in this battle. It can easily perform a sneak attack and catch you off guard. Most of its attacks are pretty regular, slashes and swipes. The only one you need to watch out for is a grab attack where it will plunge a knife into your chest.
Here are some tips to consider when facing off the Black Knife Assassin:
- Since your foe is discreet, try to stay at the center of the arena and watch where the water moves.
- At all times, swing your weapon like crazy. Eventually, you will make contact.
- Use a Spirit Ash, preferably the Mimic Tear Ash, to keep a track of your enemy.
How does the Concealing Veil Talisman work?
The effect of the Concealing Veil Talisman is that it conceals the wearer while crouching away from foes.
Keep in mind, it works differently against PvP/PvE enemies and NPCs.
In PvP and PvE battles, the talisman is much more effective. When crouching, you will be invisible to others as long as you are at a distance. As long as it’s being used, a tiny icon indicating the talisman will appear under your health bar.
When using the Concealing Veil Talisman against NPCs, you will be less likely to be detected. However, it is barely noticeable.
If an enemy does catch on to your presence, you will be locked on as a target.
