Episode 11, titled ‘God-Entertaining Chapter, Part 1,’ unfolded a lot of mysteries for us. Hanyuu recalls the time when she had first met Rika after being reincarnated as a human.
She told Rika about a possible way to escape from the loop. Unaware of the fact that Satoko is watching them from the fragment, she told Rika the location of the sacred sword.
After returning, Satoko found the sword and accidentally broke it. Rika found a shard of it later and decided to try for five more loops before using it to kill herself.
Unsurprisingly, the cycle repeated, and Rika ended up in a tragic death in all five loops. Meanwhile, Hanyuu finally managed to locate Eua in the sea of fragments.
Will Rika be able to put an end to the miseries? Or does another tragedy await her? Let’s find out.

Episode 13 Preview & Speculation
A lot happened in episode 12. Hanyuu gave a ray of hope to Rika when she told her about the sword but didn’t expect Satoko to ruin everything again.
Satoko, however, committed a grave mistake by not caring about the broken piece of the sword which Rika found later. It seems like luck is finally on Rika’s side this time.
Rika must’ve hidden the broken piece somewhere away from the eyes of Satoko, and since she ended up in a tragedy in all the five loops, she might kill herself with it in the next episode. Also, it is confirmed that Hanyuu didn’t die, but she just left Rika searching for Eua.
Hanyuu finally found Eua in the sea of fragments, and we will see her confronting Eua in the next episode. I guess next week we will go back to the classroom scene where Satoko points her gun at Rika.

Episode 13 of the Higurashi: When They Cry – Sotsu (2021) anime, titled “God-Entertaining Chapter, Part 2”, has been released on Thursday, Sep 16, 2021.
Since this anime runs on a weekly schedule, new episode releases are seven days apart.

Episode 12 Recap
After Rika dies tragically, she travels back to the sea of fragments in front of Hanyuu. Hanyuu recalls when she met Rika for the first time. She came to the human world again when Rika was born as the eighth consecutive female child.
Hanyuu grew fond of her, and in an attempt to avert her fated death, she committed the sin of granting Rika the power to live in loops. The power only brought suffering for Rika, but she never gave up. After witnessing a miracle, Hanyuu returned to the sea of fragments.
In the present, Rika wakes up screaming and says that she remembers who killed her. She realizes that if she uses her power to escape again, she will again end up in 1983. Hanyuu tells Rika about ‘Onigari-no-ryou,’ a sacred sword capable of killing those who live in loops.
After telling the location of the sword, Hanyuu bids farewell to Rika and disappears. Rika and Satoko start the loop once again. In the Oyashiro-sama’s shrine, Satoko searches for Rika while playing hide and seek.
She ends up in a dark room and finds the sacred sword that Hanyuu talked about. Without delay, Satoko hides the weapon. Later that day, Rika goes to the same room in order to find the sword but doesn’t find it in the place Hanyuu mentioned.
Suddenly, she sees something shining from inside the statue and finds a broken piece of the sword. Just when she tries to kill herself with it but gets interrupted by her friends. Rika decides to try for five more loops.
Later in the same loop, Satoko injects one of Rika’s acquaintances, Akasaka, with the Hinamizawa curse. She lies to him that Rika is infected with a parasite and fools him into killing Rika.
In the next loop, she does the same with Rika’s aunt, who kills Rika under the curse’s effect. Rika ends up in the same way in the third and fourth loops. Meanwhile, in the sea of fragments, Hanyuu finally finds Eua.

Higurashi: When They Cry is a Japanese murder mystery dōjin soft visual novel series produced by 07th Expansion that comprises the first two entries of the When They Cry franchise. The series focuses on a group of young friends living in the fictional rural village of Hinamizawa and the strange events that occur there in 1983.
