When Ninja Theory released Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice in 2017, no one had expected it to go on and become an all-timer. The developers announced the sequel soon after, but not much has been heard of it until now.
Based on some insider information, Gaming Media Outlet Exputer suggests that Hellblade 2’s launch is supposed to be on May 21st, 2024. According to the source, developers Ninja Theory are expected to reveal the release date at this week’s Xbox Developer’s Direct.
Exputer has confirmed that their source is an industry insider/an employee at Microsoft without giving away much of the specifics for obvious reasons. However, the same source has also revealed that the internal reviews on the current version of Hellblade 2 are excellent.
Ninja Theory is quite confident of reaching the same heights that its predecessor, Hellblade 1, did. The premise of Hellblade is based on Celtic and Norse mythology.
Similar to Alan Wake 2 in some respects, Hellblade 1 follows Senua’s journey through murder, mystery, and insanity. Senua battles through her troubles through the hellish underworld that is made up of her psychotic manifestations, where the lines between reality and her mind are blurred.
The Xbox Developer Direct Event will be held on January 18th at noon PT. As per the rumor, Ninja Theory will reveal the details soon, and fans cannot wait for the release date of May 21st.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a 2017 action-adventure game developed and published by the British video game development studio Ninja Theory. Set in a dark fantasy world inspired by Norse mythology and Celtic culture, the game follows Senua, a Pict warrior who must make her way to Helheim by defeating otherworldly entities and facing their challenges, in order to rescue the soul of her dead lover from the goddess Hela.
