Yoshitsune and Tomomori are going to war at sea with 1000 boats on the Heike side. One of those boats carries Tokuko and her son, Emperor Antoku. Biwa had once seen the vision of Tokuko drowning, and when her son was born, she saw the same for him.

In this battle on the ocean, are the mother and son going to drown? That would be one of the saddest things that could happen in the series.

News reaches Munemori that Shigehira has been captured at Ichinotani and as ransom Go-Shirakawa asks to have the sacred treasures back.

Tomomori decides not to since there is no guarantee they will release him after that, and they also need to protect the emperor. Sukemori informs Koremori that Shigehira will be sent to Kamakura.

Genji-Yoshitsune will likely resume the attack, scaring Koremori. Shigehira is presented as a hostage to Yoritomo, where he tells everyone he didn’t burn the temples of Nara on purpose, but it was the wind that fanned the flames.

Yoritomo wants to spare him but is reminded by his wife that he lives today because Lord Kiyomori had spared him once, and now he’s ending the Heike clan.

Meaning as long as he spares the Heike, one will be sure to rise and end the Genji. Sukemori implores Tokuko to write to Go-Shirakawa, asking him to spare the Heike. She refuses.

Koremori runs away to become a monk, cutting his hair off along with his worldly attachments. As he goes off with other monks, he happens to meet Biwa. Overjoyed, he holds Biwa’s face, staring at his father’s eyes.

He asks her if she saw what was about to happen, and she tries to convince him to live quietly. Koremori is then seen standing on a boat like the majestic Buddha and jumping into the water as a happy man. He was a scared cat right till the end.

Go Shirakawa summons Yoshitsune and hosts a shirabiyoshi performance for him. One of the dancers catches his eye. Sukemori teases the monk who was the only one to come back alive “shamelessly” after all other monks jumped following Koremori.

Biwa visits him with a letter from his crush and tells him she will witness their story. Sukemori understands and, with a knowing look, thinks, so the Heike will really fall, huh?

In the end, Yoshitsune, whose forces are triple the number of Tomomori battle at sea. Is this truly the end?
