Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Chapter 89: Release Date, Delay, Discussion

Chapter 88 of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, titled “Demon,” is the latest installment of the manga.

This chapter introduced us to No. 6’s past and his perspective on Sumire. No. 6 worked for a samurai clan after it slaughtered his master. His cold demeanor and lack of empathy towards the dead made him a killing machine, and the samurai used him for all their dirty work.

He met Sumire when she was selected to become the next Kannagi. Since she was really young, the girl thought of No. 6 as her husband, who was to protect her in times of danger.

We already know that Sumire dies, but why did she become No. 6’s yorichiro? We’ll find out in the next chapter.

1. Chapter 89 Discussions and Predictions

The flashback about No. 6 and Sumire will continue in the next chapter. He will tell Aoi about her ancestor’s past, which will tie-up with the narrative of the previous chapters about Sumire.

Also, we’ll see the extent of Teru, Kou, and Akane’s injuries. Even though they are unconscious, it doesn’t seem like they’re dead. Also, they’re in the supernatural realm, so I don’t think they’ll die just like that.

Akane tries to use his powers and stop time, but No. 6 swiftly snatches away his watch, saying that he won’t let him stop it.

With Teru, Kou, and Akane out cold, No. 6 picks up Aoi, ready to harm her like the others. He notices that the boundary’s collapse is still on hold and realizes that the kids weren’t causing it to stop.

He then holds Aoi’s hand and tells her to come with him to the Far Shore.

Aoi tries to protest, asking him why he did such a terrible thing. No. 6 is annoyed at her question, saying that humans ask a lot of questions. We then get a flashback of his childhood when it was the first time he was asked that question.

He used to live in an Oni household, and after the home was invaded by an army of samurai, all the members ended up being killed. The invaders asked a young No. 6 why he didn’t run away, but the child didn’t reply.

No. 6 describes how the Oni family was around for as long as he could remember. As an Oni, he had no concept of parents or siblings, but they were as close as it could get.

The leader told No. 6 that he was going to kill him, so whether he tried to run away or come at him, it won’t matter. The kid replies that it doesn’t matter since his master was already dead. Taken back by this response, the man brings No. 6 to serve him.

He does as told and carries out his new master’s dirty work. As the chapter ends, a new Kannagi named Sumire is introduced to him, and he’s asked to take care of her.
