The much-awaited seinen anime of the year, Grand Blue, is finally back with its second season, and the anime is just as funny as the first season was, which aired seven years ago. Only this time, things seem to be way more interesting because Kitahara Iori’s sister has joined the fray, which makes Iori’s life way harder than it was before.

2. Recap of Grand Blue Season 2 Episode 1
The first episode of Grand Blue season 2 started with Iori reading a letter that he received from his sister, Kitahara Shiori, who seemed to genuinely care about Iori and his well-being. Her letter was well written and was filled with passion, which almost made it hard to believe that it was written by Iori’s sister. She also sent a handmade stuffed toy along with it as a gift. Iori explained that his sister was horrible with technology, which was why she wrote a letter instead of sending him a text message.
Regardless of her situation, Iori was now obligated to write a letter back to her, but when he thought about his life at college, there was not a single thing he could tell his sister about, because he was busy getting drunk, missing classes, and cheating on exams. Since Chisa took the same classes as Iori, she knows everything about his life, so Shiori wrote Chisa a letter too, and asked her to make sure that Iori didn’t lie in his letter.
In the end, Iori did write a letter that was full of white-lies, which summed up his college life in a way that didn’t sound indecent. Right after this, his peers came into the shop, and as usual, Iori stripped and partied. Little did he know, his sister Shiori had planted a camera in the stuffed toy and was spying on Iori the whole time.
The next day, Kouhei and Aina visited the shop to find out that Nana and the owner had gone on a trip, and it was only Chisa and Iori in the shop. The two were chilling together, but Aina couldn’t help but suspect that Iori had ulterior motives. At that point, Iori said Chisa is more like a sister, and Chisa believed this too. After dinner, the group was going through photos they had taken to find a decent picture that Iori could send to his sister. When Chisa found a rather indecent picture of Nanaka and Azusa, Iori absolutely had to see it, but couldn’t say it out loud.
The rest of the episode featured Iori’s weird antics to try and see Azusa’s photo. Some interesting circumstances led to Chisa and Iori getting into a fight, which ended in both of them passing out on top of each other in Chisa’s room. Nanaka walked into the room the next day and was fuming with rage. Iori had ulterior motives, but he had truly done nothing with Chisa, and Chisa didn’t clear the misunderstanding, and let Iori suffer Nanaka’s wrath.
3. Speculation of Episode 2 of Grand Blue Season 2
The first episode of Grand Blue season 2 ended with Nanaka asking Iori to marry Chisa, which is wild, because no one would’ve expected Nanaka of all people to say that. However, when Shiori walked in and refused to let this happen, Iori was flabbergasted.
Shiori likely came to visit Iori out of concern for his degenerate lifestyle, so the upcoming episode of the anime will likely feature Iori in deep trouble, since he’s now under his sister’s mercy. Besides this, Kouhei, who happens to have a sister-complex (despite not having a sister), will also be furious with Iori.
