Elden Ring is just two weeks from launch, and the expectations are through the roof for FromSoftware’s latest open-world RPG adventure. So, it is heartening to see that the company has its ear to the ground and is keeping in touch with feedback from the fans. The developer has agreed to now change the game’s HUD based on what fans had to say.
In a recent interview, game producer Yasuhiro Kitao spoke on what has changed since the closed beta a few months ago. One of the most significant changes, according to him, was the redesign of Elden Ring‘s user interface in response to the player feedback.
The interview with GamerBraves covered several topics related to Elden Ring, including the last-minute changes made to the game. One of these was redesigning the in-game heads-up display, which beta players had criticized as being too simple.
Kitao stated that FromSoftware had always planned to adjust the game’s interface before release. Player feedback convinced the studio to finally take the step and add a more substantial redesign. He stated that the new design is a better fit for the game’s aesthetic while also being pleasing to the eye. He thanked the beta players for their feedback and said that the team was very grateful for the support.
A new HUD is not the only change being made to Elden Ring. The team has also taken the worries of magic being OP in the game into account and rebalanced things to make melee and projectile combat more viable. While some may be a bit miffed that the magic system has been downgraded a bit, it allows for a greater range of classes and playstyles to be viable in Elden Ring.
The interview touched on a variety of other topics as well. This included hidden areas, stat relocation, player story experience, and FromSoftware’s server security problems. He also spoke on working with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. He didn’t detail what is in store for the players in the game, but luckily we won’t have to wait long as Elden Ring launches on February 25th.
