Does Avatar: The Way of Water have an end-credits scene? How many?

We’re back in the mesmerizing Avatar world created by James Cameron. The sequel, which was released this weekend, continues the story of Jake, Neytiri, and their kids as they find a new home with the Metkayina tribe.

Thanks to Marvel, DC, and other big franchises, fans are very used to having to sit back in the theatre and wait for post-credits scenes. They may expect the same for a movie that is as famous, big-budgeted, and lengthy as Avatar: The Way of Water.

So, the big question is—does Avatar: The Way of Water have a mid-credits/post-credits scene?

Avatar: The Way of Water has no mid-credits or post-credits scenes. The film does not have any additional scenes or extra footage after it ends.

The Way of Water does not end with a cliffhanger and resolves all its storylines by the end of the film. Because of this, it doesn’t really need an end-credits scene to tease any future projects.

So that’s it folks—you don’t necessarily have to sit back and wait in the theatre once the movie ends. But I do recommend sticking around for the first main credit roll because it incorporates some stunning artwork.

Noting that building Avatar into a proper film franchise is in the works, fans may wonder why Avatar 2 does not have a post-credits scene.

There have been talks that Avatar 3, along with the rest of the projects in the franchise, will be greenlit, but there hasn’t been any official announcement yet.

Currently, the studio is still waiting to see how Avatar 2 performs at the theatre and gauge critics’ and audience’s reception. While Avatar may have been the definition of a blockbuster back in 2009, Avatar 2 may not enjoy the same success.

Due to this, Avatar 2 does not have any post-credits scenes that give an indication of what future projects may hold.

It’s possible that once Avatar: The Way of Water is available to purchase on DVD or Blu-Ray, the packaging may come with some deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes footage, and teasers for future projects. Stay tuned!
