Diamond no Ace Act II Chapter 278: Release Date, Delay, Discussion

Chapter 277 of Diamond no Ace Act II, titled “Feel,” was the manga’s latest installment.

This chapter was electrifying as Inajitsu grew more aggressive with their batting. Yamaoka Riku, the high school’s home run artist, entered the batter’s box with ferocity and managed to hit Furuya’s pitch with all his vigor.

Even though it was too shallow for a home run, the batter displayed his exceptional arm strength through the hit.

The ball flew towards the boundary, and Seidou’s fielder, Asou, leaped in the air to catch it. He successfully caught it but failed to notice how close he got to the boundary wall.

Unfortunately, the catch caused him to bang his head against the concrete wall, and the chapter ended with a cliff-hanger.

Will Asou drop the ball due to his injury? Will he get switched out of the match? We’ll find out in the next chapter.

1. Chapter 278 Discussions and Predictions

Yamaoka Riku proved to be one of the most influential players of Inajitsu. His swing was so good that he could easily score a home run on the first ball. Luckily for Seidou, it seems like Asou was able to catch the ball just in time.

There’s a small problem, though. While catching the ball, Asou miscalculated the distance between him and the boundary and accidentally banged his head on the concrete wall.

This injury could change the game drastically. If he successfully catches the ball, Riku would be out, but if he drops the ball, Riku would still be able to play.

I think that since we already saw the ball safely clutched in Asou’s glove, it’s unlikely that he’ll drop it. The real concern is how bad the injury is.

Asou will probably be switched out due to a minor concussion, but it’s also likely that he just got a slight bruise. Either way, I hope he’s okay since his catch potentially saved Seidou from a huge loss.

5. Chapter 277 Recap

It’s the bottom of the fifth, and the game finally sees developments. Inajitsu seizes the lead, and now, with two outs and a runner on second, the batter’s box belongs to three-hole Saotome.

Furuya is still on the pitch, and he throws a high inside fastball as the fourth ball. The batter misses the fourth pitch but hits the fifth, and Inajitsu is on the field with two runners on first and second.

The next batter is the unshakable four-hole, home run artist, Yamaoka Riku. Carlos comments on how the Seidou fielders didn’t move much deeper, while Miyuki tells Furuya to cut Inajitsu off with a fastball.

He encourages him to throw with all his might since his pitches have enough power to shut Riku down.

Sawamura notices that the batter isn’t the type of guy to give up easily, but regardless of that, he trusts Furuya. As the match progresses, the spectators comment on how the Inajitsu line-up explodes after they score, and at the center of it all is Riku.

He chooses his target and always swings with a full stroke at any pitch, and if he manages to make good contact, even Furuya’s pitch will be sent out of the stadium.

We then cut to the game that Inajitsu lost to Ugumori High in the fall of the previous year. The loss impacted the team immensely and in many ways. It shook Narumiya and the rest of the line-up to the core, including Riku.

The coach then guided him and told him that he could plunge the pitcher into the depth of despair with just one swing. This is where his true strength lies.

Riku feels a burst of energy as he yearns to feel the exhilaration of hitting a home run. Furuya throws his pitch using all his strength, and Riku hits the ball with a powerful stroke.

The ball flies in the air but is too shallow to exit the field. As the ball inches towards the boundary, Asou, Seidou’s fielder, desperately jumps up to catch the ball.

He is successful, but just as the ball touches his glove, his head violently smashes into the boundary wall.
