2. Recap of Episode 3 of Dandadan Season 2

After last week’s nasty cliffhanger, we are immediately greeted with yokai-fied Jiji, now fully possessed by the Evil Eye who has a serious grudge and strangely nice abs. Okarun barely gets a moment to breathe before he’s being flung around the cave like a ragdoll. Still, he keeps it together long enough to Turbo-Granny power kick Momo to the surface, with full trust that she will find a way to save them all.

Momo, after a bit of fumbling around, realizes that a simple rope isn’t going to help. Something kid-Jiji said reminds her how earthworms hate wet soil, and so she sets their house on fire. Yes, for real. That gets the fire department to soak the ground. Meanwhile, Okarun squares off against the Evil Eye in a creepy cursed-house dimension. The fight is brutal, but when Evil Eye Jiji threatens Momo, Okarun finally breaks and absolutely demolishes the yokai.

As water floods past the surface, the Death Worm is forced into the sunlight and dies a very gross death. But before anyone can rejoice, it turns out killing an ancient serpent was actually not a very good idea. The Kito family crawls out of the worm’s corpse, the ground starts shaking, and a nearby volcano casually decides it’s time to erupt.

3. Speculation of Episode 4 of Dandadan Season 2

With Jiji unconscious, Okarun drained, and Momo facing a literal eruption (and maybe jail?), the trio’s about to be tested like never before.

And even though the moment was sandwiched between the Kito grandmom and Momo’s causal back and forth, there is an actual active volcano threatening to wipe everything out. It’s going to be hard to counter this one with some silly flashback.

‘Dandadan’ is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ service since April 2021. An anime television series adaptation produced by Science Saru is set to premiere in 2024.

Momo Ayase is a high school student who believes in ghosts, but her classmate Okarun believes in aliens instead. To determine who is correct, they make a bet and decide to visit locations associated with both the occult and the supernatural separately.

Ayase visits places related to ghosts, while Okarun visits sites about aliens. When they reach their respective areas, they discover they are only half-right. It turns out that both aliens and ghosts exist.
