CoD: Modern Warfare II’s PS5 exclusive skin available on Xbox, PC

Call of Duty’s latest inclusion to the new-gen Modern Warfare series is just around the corner, in the form of Call of Duty Modern Warfare III, which releases for all platforms on November 10th, 2023.

Before Call of Duty Modern Warfare III releases, Modern Warfare II is approaching its first anniversary. Reputed CoD informer CharlieIntel reported on Twitter that Xbox and PC players had received access to the PlayStation-exclusive Oni Operator after the update on October 18th.

For context, the Oni Operator was supposed to be a PlayStation exclusive until October 27th. Despite the Oni Operator being fully unlocked for PC and Xbox players, some players took to Twitter to report that they could not equip the operator skin.

It must be kept in mind that only the base Oni Skin appears as unlocked on all consoles. His other skins, however, continue to be unavailable.

This goes to show that Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision, which amounted to close to USD 69 billion, is not affecting the PlayStation-exclusive content of Call of Duty.

However, it must be remembered that Xbox will not gain complete control over Call of Duty until the 2024 entries. This is shown by the fact that Oni, who is officially set to be available on October 27th for Xbox and PC, will not be available to be equipped until then for Xbox fans.

Even though Xbox, on paper, owns Activision, the developers of Call of Duty, PlayStation still has access to exclusive marketing rights. This power will be held until Modern Warfare III, meaning that PlayStation users will have an upper hand until the end of this year.

PlayStation announced an exclusive Lockpick operator ahead of Modern Warfare III’s launch in less than a month. PlayStation players also accessed the open beta earlier than the Xbox and PC players.

As mentioned earlier, the Oni operator skin can also be carried over from MWII to MWIII. This means that players can use it right from launch day on Modern Warfare III, which boasts an excellent fan review for its open beta, thanks to its improved movement and the bunch of remade maps from the OG 2009 Modern Warfare 2.
