Ryouma learns about the Founding Festival of Gimul in episode 7 of By the Grace of the Gods season 2, titled “Ryoma and the Local Cuisine”.

To commemorate Eli joining the Royal Academy, Ryouma decides to give a handmade gift to her and experiments with soap making. A problem arises with the slimes at the second shop, and Ryouma quickly goes to Lenaf to gauge the situation.

Ryouma meets up with Pioro as well, who gives him a barrel of fermented fish. Cooking it with Semesa, one of Jane’s hometown’s crop, gives an idea to Callum to open up a stall at the festival, selling cuisines from different places with the help of their diverse staff.

Episode 8 Speculation

All the employees of the Bamboo Forest, and Ryouma, are excited for the festival and have already started preparing for it. In the next episode, Gimul will celebrate the founding festival.

It seems the residents are fond of this festival and will go all out with their stalls. Ryouma’s stall is bound to be a hit considering the various kinds of cuisines they will be selling.

Since the tune for the magic boxes came from Semroid Troupe, they will definitely be curious about Ryouma. The leader sounds like a little weird but genius person, and we will see exactly what kind of character he will be. All in all, the founding festival is set up for much fun.

Episode 7 Recap

Eli writes a letter to Ryouma, telling him how she will move into dorms soon. Since it’s her first time living alone, she is a little scared but excited nonetheless. Ryouma decides to make a gift for her to commemorate her moving out. After thinking hard, he settles on handmade soap and begins experimenting with various shapes, smells, and textures.

Eli also tells Ryouma about a festival their city will soon be celebrating. Ryouma asks Dolce more about it, and he tells him that the upcoming festival is the city’s founding festival, where a bunch of shops puts of stalls and travelling entertainers also perform.

Callum tells Ryouma that the slimes at the second shop in Lenaf have begun to multiply out of control. He heads off immediately to see the situation. He forms contracts with all of the slimes and is happy to find that the employees have already looked at the reasons and found a solution to the situation.

Ryouma decide to meet up with Pioro and is surprised to find a pungent smell coming from near his shop. Pioro introduces him to Shappaya, fermented fish, and tells him that although it is good preserved food, the smell is chasing away costumers.

Ryouma helps him with the deodorizing slime; in return, he gives Ryouma one of the barrels containing Shappaya. He also learns that Miyabi has already left for the capital.

After returning to Gimul, Ryouma finds that Jane’s parents has sent bags of wheat and semesa, a local crop of her village similar to sesame. He also meets up with Serge, who gives him an update on the music boxes and tells him he plans to put them on the stalls for the founding festival. Additionally, Serge tells him about the Semroid Troupe.

Ryouma and Selma brainstorms to find a way to cook the Shappaya and ends up creating a delicious dish with the fish and the semesa. Callum comes up with an idea to organize a stall presenting foods from different places, as they have a diverse group of employees from all over, at the festival.

Everyone is excited at the prospect and begin preparing for it.
