In episode six, titled “Mental Breakdowns Are No Joke,” Yatora got different tasks to prepare for the entrance exam. Yatora learnt how to make art better by using tools.
He met with Yotasuke, and they had an odd conversation. At cram school, classes got intense as the exams were nearing, and everyone is on edge.
Kuwana felt good after realizing what Yatora said about her art. Yatora started preparing for the exam with one week left.

Episode 7 Discussion
As Yatora experiences new art styles and techniques, he’s very close to reaching his goal of getting into Tokyo University of the Arts. Episode six tackled the issues that people generally face and the struggles that hold them down.
Yatora is a week away from the entrance exam and is preparing himself with art practice. What will Yatora face as he gets closer to taking the exam? How will the events play out as he prepares for the exam? I hope that the rash on his arm won’t lead to any health issues.
I think the next episode might show how the final stages of the cram school progress. Yatora will face his weakness and do his best to give his all.
Well, the following episodes will reveal more on Yatora and his friend’s art adventures as we wait for the next episode release.

Episode 6 Recap
At the start of the episode, Yatora answers Yotasuke’s unexpected call and gets asked if he’s free. Yatora mentions that he is not doing anything and asks if Yotasuke is alright, but Yotaskue hangs up.
Wondering if it was a prank call, Yatora recalls not being good enough and thinks about what Mrs. Ooba said. Lost in his thoughts, Yatora realizes he was trying to copy himself and is ashamed about it.
Thinking about Yotasuke being a genius, Yatora understands he needs to do his best to close that gap between himself and a genius. Yatora gets a call from Yotasuke again later in the episode being New Year’s Eve asking if he would like to visit a temple.
As they head to the temple, Yatora realizes that Yotasuke doesn’t find other people interesting, but Yotasuke gets annoyed with him. Hearing this, Yatora feels happy because a guy like Yotasuke sees him as unique than others. (This scene was just wholesome)
The class gets their winter break assignments at cram school, and Yatora mentions he’d like to add ten more to it. After assigning the tasks, Mrs. Ooba talks about what’s in for the day and presents a sponge cake.
The class thinks they’re in for a treat, but they find it’s a task and feels misled. Yatora talks with Mrs. Ooba and finds out about using tools to get different results in making art. Afterward, Yatora starts experimenting with various tools using charcoal.
Later Yatora finds as the art exams are closing in, cram school timings have increased from four to twelve hours (You’re joking, right?). Mrs. Ooba states to focus on dessin and will get to oil painting in the last few days before the exam.
She also mentions that dessin is the best way to improve the painting, and Yatora knows it’s true. Considering that Tokyo University of the Arts requires how individuals express themselves, Yatora decides to check previous applicants’ artworks.
After the winter break, Yatora shows his work to Mrs. Ooba, and she is happy he’s got the hang of using tools. Mrs. Ooba mentions that there are only a few weeks before the main exam and to do his best.
During the episode, Kuwana finds Yatora checking her sister’s art piece and mentions how her work is similar. She then tells Yatora is the one who has improved the most in cram school due to his hard work.
Kuwana tells Yatora how it’s comforting to watch someone’s depression which makes you feel less hopeless. Yatora mentions he understands her and did not expect a conversation like that from Kuwana.
Over next few days, Yatora gets working on the tasks and finds it frustrating for everyone with the lengthy work process. Afterward, meeting Kuwana, Yatora gets asked if he’d felt held back by someone’s words with art.
Yatora says he has and mentions how Kuwana’s artwork is nothing like her sisters as Kuwana is more in-depth with transparency. Later apologizing about what they spoke about earlier, Kuwana tells what Yatora had said back then helped her lighten her mood.
With the entrance exam closing in, Yatora finds a rash on his arm that he used to get as a kid but feels okay since it isn’t severe. Yatora prepares himself with only a week remaining for the exams.
About Blue Period
The Blue Period manga is created by Tsubasa Yamaguchi and published by Kodansha. It was first serialized in Afternoon magazine in June 2017.
The Blue Period revolves around the life of Yataro Yaguchi, a highschool student. Yataro looks like a model student on the outside but fights with hollowness on the inside.
He is fascinated by a painting of the Art club and decides to take up art as a profession. His path is filled with obstacles, but he still expresses himself proudly with colors instead of words.
