Recap of Episode 11
Elianna reaches home after her dispute with Christopher. She blames herself for being a coward and not apologizing to him even though she has learned and experienced so many things being by his side.
She returns to the castle, the next day with Jean and is surprised to see two of her maids coming to supposedly help her in the archives. The message was delivered by Sara. Sensing something wrong, they go towards her room and hear noises from inside.
Matilda has broken into her room secretly and is arguing with Sara. She tells her if not a dress, she needs just something from her to outperform her at the banquet, revealing that she was the culprit behind the stolen dress design.
When Sara tries to tell her that there isn’t anything of value left, she reminds her that the Dauner family picked her up and supported her and she has an obligation to help. She curses her for being an Azulite. Hearing this, Eli can’t control herself and bursts inside.
Matilda and Sara are shocked but Matilda tries to play it cool. She attacks Eli’s insecurities and tells her she will instead be a good concubine to maintain the military.
Elianna offers her a bottle of Milulu clam bought by Sara on an earlier errand. Matilda, however, refuses the offer due to her prejudice against the Azul region.
When Elianna asks Matilda if she has any prejudice against the Azul region and Corba village due to Ashen Nightmare, Matilda agrees and tells her that being close to Sara will taint her since she is one of the loathsome survivors.
Elianna points out that her words can be considered disrespectful against the queen who also overcame the illness.
Matilda asks her if even knows how the dress design was leaked and she confidently tells her that she knows it is not Sara’s work. Elianna also tries to correct her misunderstanding about the Corba village.
She tries to tell her how there is no evidence of the plague actually starting in the Azul region and how her words are hateful to the victims.
When Elianna challenges Matilda’s authority as a “potential concubine candidate” as she so claims, Matilda gets angry and tries to throw one of the ink bottles at her but is stopped by Sara.
Suddenly, everyone notices Christopher at the door. Elianna tries to plead non-guilty but Jean starts listing all the crimes and hearsay she has committed against the imperial family.
Christopher sighs, wondering why everyone thinks him to be so naïve. He tells them about how the Dorud Company, run by the Dauner family, has had scandalous rumors floating around. So a new head has been elected who will cut off the Dauners completely.
He also clears that the rumor of the concubine candidate has been circulated by the Dauner family and he has no intention of marrying anyone other than Elianna. He orders Matilda to be arrested.
With only the couple in the room now, Eli starts thinking of how to apologize to him. However, he apologizes first, which makes Eli cry, and she slowly tells him about all her anxieties and worries. Christopher reassures her and clears up all the misunderstandings.
They suddenly hear the queen outside the room and hide. The queen, seeing the room empty, starts talking to her attendant about Elianna and how they still have to decide on her jewelry to wear for the Holy Night’s Banquet. Eli and Christopher hear the queen worried about Eli as well.
The queen leaves, and Christopher tells Eli that her mother actually likes her. She appears strict because of how much she loves her and just can’t be honest about it. He reassures her that she is worthy of standing by her side and has nothing to worry about. Eli finally let go of her worries.
As Christopher asks if there is anything else she wants to inquire about, Eli replies she doesn’t want him to marry another woman. He hugs her and tells her he doesn’t need anyone else. He also tells her to never doubt his feelings. Eli promises him she will never run away and tells him that she loves him.
