The first image of Ted Lasso season 3 is out, and the divide between the two protagonists seems more prominent than ever.
Based on Jason Sudeikis’ portrayal of an American football team’s head coach, Ted Lasso has been one of Apple TV+’s flagship shows.
The show follows a hopelessly romantic football fan, Ted, who takes over as the coach of an English football club only to realize that it has got nothing to do with the football, he was familiar with.
Apple TV + recently released the first official photo of Ted Lasso season 3. It shows Nate looking like a proper villain as he squares up against Ted inside West Ham United’s training ground.
Check out the image below:
Ted and Nate have a unique history in the story. After cordial beginnings in season 1, their relationship started to strain by the end of the second season.
Nate eventually left AFC Richmond and joined West Ham United in the Premier League.
The irony is that West Ham United is owned by AFC Richmond’s owner Rebecca Welton’s ex-husband. Rupert Mannion!
Ted Lasso season 2’s major cliffhanger involves Nate’s paradigm shift from a timid kit assistant to a spiteful and insecure defector to West Ham. It looks like he will be the main antagonist in the upcoming season 3.
This is also hinted by the fact that Nate leaks Ted’s panic attacks to the press in season 2. This shocked the fans because his sudden shift from one of the show’s most lovable characters was tough to digest.
He thinks that Ted doesn’t care for him and isn’t concerned about his well-being, but the reality is quite different.
Ted’s own troubles keep him preoccupied throughout season 2. His abrupt divorce and his desire to be involved with his family doesn’t allow him to be as caring towards his co-workers as he used to be.
Ted’s life has been all about dealing with mishaps. He went overseas to coach soccer, something he had no knowledge of. This was followed by workplace shenanigans and his constant struggle to keep his family close to him.
Season 3 will be about Nate acting out because he thinks Ted doesn’t care for him.
Ted Lasso has been all about positivity and understanding since the first season. Ted and Nate have been partners in crime for a long time, and this turn of events is disturbing for many fans.
Thus, we expect that the makers will go with the show’s theme, and the titular duo will forget their differences and reconcile.
Season 2 was not as highly regarded as its predecessor because of its tonal shift. So, it is expected that season 3 will have a redemption arc.
So, let’s wait and watch!
