Earlier this month, developers of Alan Wake 2 announced that they will be releasing a New Game Plus mode in the upcoming update. This generated anticipation ahead of the Game Awards 2023, which saw Alan Wake II go head-to-head with Baldur’s Gate 3 with a staggering eight nominations.
Developers Remedy Entertainment have announced that Alan Wake II’s update brings New Game Plus mode. The much-awaited New Game Plus mode will feature a new ending, the Nightmare Difficulty mode, New Manuscript pages, and video content. As with any other New Game Plus, players can retain all unlocked videos, charms, and upgrades.
The update, bearing number 1.0.13 for PC, 1.00.13 for PS5, and 1.0.0.13 for Xbox Series X|S, promises to expand the gameplay of Alan Wake II – a title that fans have loved dearly.
Remedy Entertainment mentioned that to access the New Game Plus mode; players require a save-game file that has the completed playthrough of Alan Wake II.
In New Game Plus, players will find unlocked weapons in the first available shoebox for the character. In the Nightmare Plus mode, players access more manuscript pages exclusive to this mode.
The Taken take about 10 seconds on average to burn away the darkness, and they take about 4-8 revolver shots to kill. Besides the New Game Plus difficulty, Alan Wake II is also leveraging a new algorithm to improve GPU performance in locations with much geometry.
There is also a much more optimized HUD UI setup. There is also a 16MB memory usage reduction across all platforms. A new algorithm also reduces the “shimmering” effect on shiny surfaces.
Given the meteoric success of Alan Wake II and the Game Awards 2023 accolades it received for Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, and Best Game Direction, fans are pretty excited for the new update that will allow them to play a very well-made game over and over again to their heart’s content.
