Alan Wake 2 developers confirm Photo Mode for Night Springs DLC Spring Update

Summary:

  • Alan Wake 2 will receive the highly requested Photo Mode as a part of the Spring 2024 update.
  • Spring 2024 will see the release of the Night Springs DLC for Alan Wake 2.
  • This DLC is rumored to be a bit more light-hearted with many campy moments, similar to the TV show by the same name in-game in Alan Wake 2.

Sometimes, the minor features make a game highly enjoyable. The Game of the Year can also suffer from such issues, as pointed out by numerous fans who voiced the need for a particular feature in-game.

Developers Remedy Entertainment have shared screenshots of the Pacific Northwest and The Dark Place from Alan Wake 2 and have announced that players can get creative with the Photo Mode included in the Spring Update.

This, however, is far from a premium feature that could be a part of the premium Alan Wake 2 DLC coming at some point. The release date or details of the DLC remain unknown, given the tight-lipped developers.

A significant feature of Alan Wake 2 is the Night Springs television show. This show makes the already horror-ridden, crazy lore of Alan Wake 2 even crazier.

Remedy Entertainment is known to lean heavily into meta references, and the Night Springs DLC, set to release later this year, aims to do precisely that.

Rumor has it that the developers feel like a revisit to the franchise’s roots is due. It’s ironic for a franchise whose central portion of the gameplay is attributed to the Cult of the Tree.

The developers aim for a more camping feel in the Night Springs DLC as the first Alan Wake, rather than the horror of Alan Wake 2. Players who have finished Alan Wake 2 know that Alan finds himself amidst a hilarious song and dance number performed by the Old Gods of Asgard.

Despite the story’s somber tone, this is one of the jolly points. Since the Night Springs DLC shares a similar tone, fans could be in for a campy haul in the DLC. This is also hinted at by the “Night Springs” song in the soundtrack, an upbeat pop track.

Until any official announcement on the Night Springs DLC front, players can continue to play and replay Alan Wake 2, which has a New Game Plus mode, expanding the story in ways more than one with a lot of added manuscripts, ensuring the gripping storyline continues.
