Reacher’s Alan Ritchson Making a Sequel to His Football Comedy Show

Summary:

  • Alan Ritchson is reportedly developing a sequel to his breakout sports comedy, Blue Mountain State.
  • Despite the age of the actors, Ritchson’s massive popularity can drive the show toward success.

Famous Reacher star Alan Ritchson is developing a sequel to his show ‘Blue Mountain State.’ The sports comedy show features three freshmen football players and portrays their lives as they navigate football and other college shenanigans.

Starring Darin Brooks, Sam Jones III, and The Meg’s Page Kennedy, the show ran from 2010-11 and had three seasons.

Per Deadline, the show’s sequel is currently in development, and Ritchson is expected to star in it. The show’s original stars, Brooks and Chris Romano, are also expected to return, but their extent of involvement remains unknown.

BMS Season 1 Trailer

As a matter of fact, a Blue Mountain State sequel starring Brooks, Ritchson, and Romano seems very odd in 2024. In the original series, the three stars were 28, 26, and 32 years old, respectively, which is already a bit too old for playing college students.

However, they are all in their late thirties and forties right now, and the show will need to take a very different approach to make sense of these new circumstances.

However, now might be a very conducive time for a Blue Mountain sequel. This is because of the exponential growth of Alan Ritchson’s fame because of his lead role in Prime Video’s ‘Reacher.’

Reacher has been incredibly successful for Amazon Prime, and a part of that fanbase will follow Ritchson if the sequel comes out in the future.

Moreover, Ritchson also has several other movie roles, including Ordinary Angels and the upcoming ‘The Ministry pf Ungentlemanly Affairs.’

Therefore, Ritchson’s fame can drive the sequel to fame despite the age problem.

In 2016, Blue Mountain State expanded its story with a movie titled ‘Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland.’ This film took Ritchson’s lead role and his friends into their lives after college, providing a glimpse into what the future holds for them.

Thus, we can expect Ritchson and his team to weave some magic and make everything work.

Got the rare talent to binge an entire show in a single sitting just like that. Although a sucker for psychological thrillers, no bias for any genre when it comes to a good story. A living proof that Netflix and chill is not a myth!
