The Trapper is a specialized vendor in Red Dead Redemption 2. Once you’ve taken down a legendary beast and skinned its perfect pelt, your next stop should be the Trapper.
In this guide, we’ll show you exactly where to find all five Trapper locations, what services they offer, and why they’re essential to getting the best gear in the game.
1. Red Dead Redemption 2 Trapper Locations
In Red Dead Redemption 2, Trappers are special vendors who craft unique outfits, saddles, and equipment using animal pelts and legendary skins.
There are five Trapper locations across the map, marked by a paw print icon. The main Trapper can be found in Saint Denis, with other stalls located in the wilderness.
Trappers in RDR2 offer a variety of items, including custom clothing, saddles, and reinforced equipment, many of which provide gameplay bonuses. You can also buy basic hunting supplies from them.
Players must visit these Trappers to sell pelts as they play a key role in upgrading your gear and crafting exclusive outfits, so it’s smart to hold onto your pelts rather than donating them at camp.
i. All 5 Trapper Locations in RDR2
You’ll first encounter the Trapper naturally as you progress through the story, upon reaching Saint Denis. As you continue exploring the world, you’ll find four more Trapper outposts scattered across the map. Look for the paw print icon to locate the nearest one.
| Location | Description |
| Saint Denis | Main stall in the market on the east side of the city, near the “S” in “Denis”. |
| Riggs Station | Northeast of Riggs Station, west of Bard’s Crossing, on top of a small hill in a wooded area. |
| Annesburg Area | West of Annesburg, between Elysian Pool and Three Sisters, around the “V” and “E” in “Hanover” on the map. |
| Big Valley Area | Northwest of Strawberry, past Lake Owanjila, in the woods on a cliff near the map’s edge. |
| Tall Trees | Southwest of Manzanita Post, west of the “S” in “Tall Trees”, near Lower Montana River, by the roadside in a forested patch. |
| New Austin (Epilogue Only) | North of MacFarlane’s Ranch, east of the Montana River. Available only after completing the main story. |
ii. Selling Hides to the Trapper in RDR2
Once you’ve located a Trapper, it’s important to know what items are worth trading with them. As a rule of thumb, always bring perfect hides to the Trapper, as these are the materials they use to craft high-quality gear and special outfit sets.
Unless a perfect pelt is needed for camp upgrades, it’s best to save it for the Trapper. Non-perfect hides, however, are better sold to a Butcher, as the Trapper doesn’t accept anything less than top-tier animal materials.
By locating all Trapper stalls and bringing them the right materials, you’ll unlock some of the game’s most unique and powerful gear and dress Arthur Morgan in some of the wildest outfits the frontier has to offer.
