During the “Shadows of the Horns” quest in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, you’ll face a crossroads that could alter the fate of Kamelot.

When you’re tasked with killing a Knight of the Round Table, should you betray the Keepers and eliminate Galahad, or uphold the path of order by killing One-Eye?

Both choices in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon come with significant consequences. Galahad seeks absolute control, enforcing order through extreme measures, while One-Eye operates with his agendas, using manipulation to shape events to his advantage.

Let me walk you through the “Shadows of the Horns” quest and explain the consequences of either choice in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.

i. Starting the “Shadows of the Horns” Quest

In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, Breandan assigns you the task of eliminating Galahad as part of the Shadows of the Horns quest. For this, you’ll need to travel to the Abandoned Stronghold, located northwest of Archspire.

Upon encountering a guard, use the dialogue option—

“You see this pin? I don’t have to tell you anything. Take me to Galahad.”

—to gain entry without hostility.

Choosing Your Path

Inside the stronghold, you’ll find Galahad seated in a chamber. When he asks where you found the pin, respond with “You found it.” This will open up several dialogue choices, but the two crucial ones are:

  • “The Captain of the Horns of the South asked me to kill you. He allied himself with One-Eye.”
  • “I came here to kill you.”

If you select the first option, then follow up with “But I don’t want to kill you,” Galahad will propose an alliance to fight against the Dal Riata. After his speech, you’ll have two final dialogue options:

  • “Let’s go.”
  • “I think you deserve to die after all.”

Choosing hostile dialogue, such as “I am here to kill you” or admitting to robbing Caradoc’s tomb, will provoke Galahad into attacking immediately, preventing you from taking out One-Eye later.

ii. Option 1 – Siding with Galahad

Choosing to support Galahad leads you to All-Mother’s Temple, already under attack. He’ll reveal a Keeper’s ritual requiring you to strike a gong in the Sunken Village, linked to the quest for Excalibur.

Galahad then appoints Faerghas as interim captain of the Horns of the South. You can also kill Breandan at All-Mother’s Shrine before meeting Galahad.

iii. Option 2 – Killing Galahad

Choosing to fight Galahad triggers a battle. Once defeated, the entire stronghold becomes hostile, and you’ll face attacks from Galahad’s Squires and Desperate Archers. You can either fight or flee.

Return to All-Mother Temple to report back to Breandan and One-Eye. At the temple, select the “I’m listening” dialogue option to progress your quest. Defeating Galahad rewards you with Galahad’s Mace, the Royal Butcher’s Armor set, and 1,800 XP.

2. Consequences of Killing Galahad

Choosing to kill Galahad aligns you with One-Eye and opposes Camelot. By this point, you’ll have heard of Galahad’s destructive actions, including his ability to raze entire towns. This choice allows Breandan to potentially secure peace with the southern tribes.

ProsCons
Peace in the South – Allows for a peaceful resolution in the region.Loss of Camelot’s Protection – You forfeit any support from Camelot.
Access to Sewal’s Crypt – Unlocks the crypt, revealing Camelot’s dark past.Deeper Betrayals Revealed – Discover betrayals beyond Galahad’s actions.

3. Consequences of Killing One-Eye

Siding with Galahad and Camelot means eliminating One-Eye, whom Galahad claims is inciting southern tribes, fueling war, and threatening regional stability. This choice reinforces Camelot’s order.

ProsCons
Interim Captain for the Keepers – You gain a leadership role within Camelot.Loss of Southern Alliance Hope – Any chance of uniting with southern tribes is lost.
Access to Camelot’s Military Secrets – You learn their strategies and tactics.Sewal’s Crypt Remains Secret – You miss out on discovering Camelot’s hidden truths.
Camelot Reinforcements – They provide aid in future conflicts.Traitor to Southern Knights – Southern factions view you as a betrayer.
Order in Horns of the South – The region returns to structured training under Camelot.
Loyal Enforcer of the Round Table – You strengthen your ties to Camelot’s leadership.

Your decision hangs on the story you wish to write—will you hope for stability and structured leadership, even if it means accepting hidden truths? Or will you fight to expose Camelot’s secrets, knowing it may lead to conflict and instability?

Whatever path you choose, it will shape your legacy and determine the fate of Avalon. Choose wisely!
