Clever Nightfarer, heed my advice.
The Revenant would make a phenomenal addition to your troop. Specializing in necromancy and survival, she turns fallen foes into allies and keeps your team alive through ambushes with her unique immortality skills.
Let me lend you a hand in defeating the Queen of Necromancy and adding her to your roster of Nightfarers.
1. How to get the Revenant in Elden Ring: Nightreign?
To unlock Revenant in Elden Ring: Nightreign, first unlock Duchess by defeating Gladius in the first expedition and giving the Old Pocketwatch to the Priestess in the Roundtable Hold.
Next, buy the Besmirched Frame for 1,500 Murk at the Small Jar Bazaar. With it, interact with the ghostly figure in the Roundtable Hold’s east wing and choose “Yes” to touch the phantom.
This transports you to a boss fight against Revenant and her three spectral allies. Defeat them to unlock Revenant as a playable character at the Character Selection altar.
As a support-focused Nightfarer, Revenant specializes in battlefield control, necromancy, and team-saving abilities. For a more detailed step-by-step walkthrough, keep reading the article!
Step 1: Unlock Duchess
Before you can begin the Revenant quest, you must first unlock Duchess as a playable character.
To do this:
- Defeat Gladius during the first Expedition.
- Then speak with the Priestess at the Roundtable Hold to gain access to the Duchess.
Step 2: Purchase the Besmirched Frame
Once Duchess is available, head to the Small Jar Bazaar in the west wing of the Roundtable Hold.
- Buy the Besmirched Frame for 1,500 Murk, which can be earned through Expeditions.
- If you’re low on Murk, try taking down a Night Lord or completing more Expeditions.
Step 3: Locate the Phantom
With the Besmirched Frame in your inventory:
- Go to the east wing of the Roundtable Hold.
- From the Expedition table, walk down the right hallway toward the journal stand, then turn left.
- You’ll find a ghostly figure staring at a painting—this is the Phantom.
- Switch to your preferred character, then interact with her and select “Yes” when asked to touch the phantom.
Step 4: Defeat the Night Idol
Touching the Phantom will transport you back to the game’s tutorial arena, where you’ll face the Night Idol—Revenant’s corrupted form. Three spectral allies accompany her:
- Helen the Page – Quick but fragile
- Frederick the Pumpkin Head – Durable and slow
- Sebastian the Giant Skeleton – Powerful and resilient
To defeat them and unlock the Revenant,
- Eliminate the summons first, one by one.
- Stay mobile to avoid her Triple Rings of Light attack—it deals heavy damage.
- Once she’s alone, you can go in aggressively or chip away from range.
Once defeated, Revenant will acknowledge your strength and vow revenge, but will also become playable. You can now select her from the Character Selection altar in the Roundtable Hold for all future Expeditions.
2. Revenant Class Overview
Revenant excels as a backline caster, dealing death from a distance and summoning her “family” (three ghostly guardians) when no enemies are around. She specializes in using Spirit Ashes to summon pawns to fight for her, while still being capable of wielding her weapons when needed.
It’s well worth the effort, as Revenant brings a unique summoner playstyle to the roster. If you enjoy staying out of the fray while keeping your team alive and raising the dead, she’s well worth unlocking.
If you enjoy support roles or want more control over the battlefield, Revenant is a standout pick. She trades raw power for clever positioning and summons reinforcements.
- Passive – Necromancy: Occasionally raises fallen enemies to fight for you—perfect for crowd control.
- Skill – Summon Spirit: Call one of three unique phantoms (rogue, bruiser, or mage), each suited to different situations.
- Ultimate – Immortal March: Grants temporary invincibility to your team and revives any downed allies—a true game-changer in tough fights.
Revenant has a steeper learning curve than most Nightfarers, but mastering her means mastering necromancy – and how cool is it to have ghostly allies and clutch saves!
Even if you don’t usually play support, she’s worth trying, especially when you’re marching into chaos with an undead army at your back.
May you be successful in your quest to achieve the Revenant’s mastery, Brave Nightfarer!
