Berserker Trophy Bugged on PS5? Here’s how to fix it in Doom: The Dark Ages

DOOM: The Dark Ages launched just last week, with a Platinum Trophy exclusive to the PS5. Unfortunately, players are already encountering a glitch that could prevent them from unlocking this Platinum trophy.

While some players have discovered workarounds to avoid the issue, no official patch to fix the bug is currently in sight. Here’s what we’ve gathered for you to unlock the Berserker Trophy on the PS5 without being affected by the glitch.

The Berserker trophy in Doom: The Dark Ages is a gold trophy awarded for fully upgrading specific gear. You need to upgrade your Shield Saw, all Shield Runes, and three melee weapons to earn it.

While this may seem straightforward, many players have encountered issues with it.

From what we’ve seen so far, this issue appears to be affecting only the PS5 version of DOOM: The Dark Ages. Players on Xbox and PC report that the achievement unlocks correctly on their platforms.

According to PS5 players, however, the trophy sometimes fails to unlock, even after all upgrades have been purchased. This glitch often occurs when upgrades are bought gradually across multiple levels or when players restart a checkpoint immediately after collecting a Demonic Essence.

This prevents the game from properly tracking their progress, and replaying the level doesn’t resolve the problem. Since the Berserker trophy is required to earn the Platinum, this bug can be a major roadblock.

This is understandably frustrating, especially for dedicated trophy hunters, who might need to replay the entire game if they unknowingly trigger the glitch.

To avoid triggering the Berserker trophy bug in Doom: The Dark Ages, it’s recommended to save all your Gold and Rubies and purchase all upgrades at once, preferably near the end of the game. Doing this should also unlock the Shield Adept, Melee Expert, and Powerful Investment trophies.

Alternatively, you can start a new playthrough on easy difficulty, complete the campaign without buying any upgrades, and gather all necessary resources first, then upgrade everything in one go.

Before spending your resources, be sure to create a backup save. This allows you to reload and try again if the trophy doesn’t unlock.

If the issue persists, you may need to delete your save data and start fresh, or wait for a patch from the developers to address the bug.

Unlocking this trophy takes some effort, but it’s manageable, especially during a second playthrough if you have leftover resources.

  • All upgrades must be purchased from Sentinel Shrines scattered throughout the game.
  • The earliest opportunity to unlock the Berserker trophy is in Chapter 15: City of Ry’uul, once you’ve obtained the Dreadmace.
  • To reach this point with enough resources, avoid skipping any Gold or Rubies in previous chapters, and avoid upgrading any gear until all upgrades can be purchased in one go.
  • To fully upgrade every Shield Base, Shield Rune, and Melee Weapon, you’ll need a total of 5,925 gold and 33 rubies.
  • Fortunately, the game provides 6,557 gold and 38 rubies, so you don’t need to collect every single piece of currency.

If the trophy still doesn’t unlock, you may have to delete your save file and start a new game to try again. Hopefully, Bethesda and id Software are working on a patch to resolve the issue.
