Nightfarer, let us rejoice in this new start with a fresh set of garments. Wait, are you saying you do not know where to get them?
Changing garbs in Elden Ring: Nightreign is easy, but unlocking them is not. You’ll need skill, experience, and plenty of grinding for both progress and currency. Luckily, Nightreign makes the grind enjoyable.
Here’s how to unlock & equip garbs in Elden Ring: Nightreign.
1. Elden Ring: Nightreign – How to unlock and change skins?
In Elden Ring: Nightreign, as you battle the Night across Limveld, you’ll be able to unlock new skins for each of your nightfarers, letting you personalize your characters and make them truly your own.
There are plenty of unlockable skins, including garbs inspired by iconic Dark Souls gear. These outfits are purely cosmetic and don’t affect gameplay.
At the start of Elden Ring: Nightreign, each Nightfarer is locked into their default appearance and armor.
You won’t be able to change outfits until you’ve progressed far enough to unlock the Dresser. Once available, you can spend Murk—earned through Expeditions—on new outfits.
To change a Nightfarer’s appearance, open the Roundtable Hold main menu and select Change Garb. This will instantly transport you to the mirror in the central hub, where you can swap skins.
Below, we’ve simplified this process for you in a step-by-step guide that is easy to follow.
i. How to unlock the dresser?
To unlock the ability to change skins in Nightreign:
Complete Two Expeditions
- Your journey begins with the Tricephalos Expedition (Gladius, Beast of Night). After defeating this Nightlord, you’ll be able to target any of the other six.
- Once you’ve defeated any two Nightlords, you’ll unlock the Dresser, a customization mirror located in Gideon Ofnir’s old study near the east wing of the Roundtable Hold.
Access the Mirror
- After your second Nightlord kill, the Iron Menial will inform you that a Viewing Mirror has been placed nearby.
- Use this mirror to access the Change Garb menu and begin customizing your Nightfarers.
ii. How to change your garbs?
There are eight Nightfarers, and each of them have their own unlockable skins. The total Murk required for all skins is substantial, so plan your spending. Once the mirror is unlocked:
- Open the Roundtable Hold main menu.
- Select “Change Garb” to teleport to the customization area.
- Interact with the mirror to preview, unlock, or equip available skins.
Note: These changes are cosmetic only and do not affect gameplay stats or abilities.
2. Elden Ring: Nightreign – How to unlock and purchase new skins?
Every Nightfarer will have access to:
- Dawn Skin – 14,000 Murk
- Light-themed designs with gold and white accents.
- Darkness Skin – 35,000 Murk
- Darker tones with black and purple elements.
In addition to the initial skins available after unlocking the mirror, players can also obtain:
- Remembrance Skins – Complete a Nightfarer’s Remembrance Questline (unlocked by completing Expeditions and Journal entries) to access unique skins tied to their story.
- Dark Souls-Inspired Skins – Unlocked by defeating the final boss of Nightreign. These cost 7,500 Murk each and offer a nostalgic nod to FromSoftware’s earlier titles.
Murk is earned primarily through Expeditions. You receive a small amount per run (typically 1,000–2,000), so expect to grind if you’re aiming to unlock all available skins.
To plan out your spending, prioritize your main character and the outfits you prefer first (e.g., grab Dawn if you don’t want to splurge on Darkness yet).
With this, you can customize your characters in Elden Ring: Nightreign as you progress in your fight against the Night. Just be ready for the grind—those outfits won’t unlock themselves.
May luck be eternally by your side, Brave Nightfarer!
