Season 8 of Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories will revolve around the theme of “Invisible Fear.”

The last season ended with the episode titled “Refrigerator,” in which we witnessed the autobiography of a refrigerator owned by a family whose happiness vanishes with time.

Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories is a horror anime that presents you with the traditional kamishibai street storytelling style. Each episode is drawn from mythology or urban legend and is scary enough to spook you right away.

The story follows a suspicious guy with a mask on his face who recites the most horrifying stories to the children. Over the years, the anime has featured many guest voices.

On Friday, TV Tokyo announced that the Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories anime will get its eighth season.

The new season is scheduled for release in January 2021. However, the exact date hasn’t been revealed yet.

Tv Tokyo’s official website also revealed a key visual for the upcoming season. The visual teases us with the theme of this season, “Invisible Fear.”

Voice actor Kanji Tsuda will be returning with his role as the Storyteller. Other cast members include:

The ending theme song “Twilight feat. Pecori” will be performed by Hiromu Kumamoto, Mitsuhi Sasagi, Saki Kuniyoshi, Kanako Ishigami, and Norikatsu Kodama.

The most recent seventh season was released in July 2019. Crunchyroll streamed all the seven seasons.

The anime has also received a live-action adaptation, which is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

The production used still photos of landscape paintings with photos of the cast instead of regular video footage, just like the original anime.

The episodes feature remakes of popular stories from the anime and also some of its own original stories.

Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories, also known as  Theater of Darkness is a 2013 Japanese anime series. The first season was launched in July 2013.

Yamishibai will spook you right away with its story-telling and smart use of background music.
