World Trigger Manga: 1 Month Hiatus Due Poor Health Of Author

Mangakas often go through a rough time physically due to the tight schedule of draft submission and the continuous stress of the work itself.

For a mangaka, there is no break. Over the years, some mangas take a short break from work, to relieve stress and focus on other aspects of life.

Daisuke Ashihara, the writer and illustrator of World Trigger manga, has been going through a rough patch for a couple of years, and the manga had to go on a break several times due to his health conditions.

It was announced through the official Twitter account of World Trigger that the manga would not be published in the August issue of Shueisha’s Jump SQ. It will return after a month’s break in the September issue.

The “World Trigger” of the August issue of SQ. (released on July 4th) will be suspended due to Dr. Ashihara’s poor physical condition.

Chapter 197 of World Trigger manga was published only as a rough draft version by Jump SQ magazine. The draft was digitally released on the viz media site on June 3.

The manga started serialization in February 2013 in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. In 2014, the manga had to go on a one week break to treat the author’s cervical spondylosis.

After the 50th issue, the manga was delayed in 2016 due to the health issues of the author and came back in 2018 after almost two years.

World Trigger changed magazine to Jump SQ in December 2018 but went on another one-month hiatus in June 2019 due to the author’s intestinal obstruction problems. Ashihara’s poor health condition led to another one month break in November 2019.

The anime series of World Trigger started airing in October 2014 and consists of 73 episodes so far. The English dubbed version of the anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll. An upcoming second season of the anime was announced in the Jump Festa’20.

A mysterious white-haired kid named Yūma Kuga gets transferred to the local school. It turns out, Kuga is actually a humanoid.
