World Trigger January 2021 Premiere, Visuals, Trailers And More

After nearing almost half a decade of hiatus, World Trigger anime will finally return with season 2 in January 2021. The release date is set to January 9, 2021.

World Trigger season 1 premiered in fall 2014 and ran till 2016, followed by an excruciatingly long hiatus due to the mangaka’s deteriorating health.

2017 offered a final glimpse of World Trigger manga, where the author Ashihara Daisuke revealed his declining health.

Fortunately, the manga made a come-back in 2019, and even though Ashihara continues to take short hiatuses, the series isn’t ending anytime soon.

World Trigger is truly an underrated anime with an intricate story set in a simple to follow premise. The plot takes place in a world where strange and dangerous creatures called “neighbors” enter the planet from a portal.

Luckily, an organization known as the border exits to protect the world from the unfriendly neighbors.

Yuuma, a humanoid neighbor, and his classmate Osamu try to join the Border to rise up the ranks and explore the realm of the so-called monsters.

The pacing of the series makes its exposition and action complement each other. Filled with loveable characters, a healthy sense of humor, and topped with mystery, World Trigger was an anime worth the long wait!

World Trigger, also known in short form as WorTri, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Daisuke Ashihara.

It was initially serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2013 to November 2018 and later transferred to Jump Square in December 2018.

A mysterious white-haired kid named Yūma Kuga gets transferred to the local school. Turns out, Kuga is actually a humanoid.

In school, he becomes friends with another student, Osamu Mikumo, who is, in fact, an undercover C-class Border trainee. Mikumo becomes the perfect guide for Kuga to save him from being discovered by Border.
