Due to the pandemic, many anime movies were delayed. However, we now have a year filled with movies from various genres! For people seeking wholesomeness, this might be the one.
The official website for Word Bubble Up Like Soda Pop Movie has released a PV. The movie is set to premiere on 22nd July 2021 on Netflix.
The PV introduces us to the main characters of the movie Cherry and Smile. We get to see Cherry’s habit of wearing headphones all the time to seclude himself from the outside world, to avoid conversation. Now if that’s not relatable, I don’t know what is!
Smile is embarrassed about her bunny teeth and braces; she wears a mask to hide them. We see both working together at a shop and later searching for each other at a festival.
The PV also features the theme for the movie “Words Bubble Up Like a Cider” by never young beach. The theme is inspired by a haiku poem written by the main character, which also describes the movie’s plot.

Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop is an original anime film by Flying Dogs, releasing in July 2021.
The “boy-meets-girl” story depicts how words and music bridge the gap between Cherry, a boy who is terrible at communicating with other people, and Smile, a girl who hides behind a mask.
Cherry always wears headphones and puts the feelings he cannot utter into his hobby, Japanese haiku poems. Smile always wears a mask to conceal her large front teeth, for which she has dental braces. As a popular video star, she streams a video about seeking “cuteness.”
