There are very few yaoi stories that amass as much hype as the upcoming anime adaptation of Shō Harusono’s Sasaki and Miyano. The story features a slow blooming romance between two high schoolers, one of whom has yet to come to terms with his romantic preferences.
After giving us that heartwarming trailer a month ago, the series has given us a visual that is a nice nod to the manga.
The official website for Sasaki and Miyano has released the main visual for the upcoming anime. The series will debut in January 2022.
The visual features Sasaki and Miyano standing back to back in a delicate bokeh style background filled with flowers. This is in line with the manga’s volume covers, which always feature the two boys standing intimately with a flowery background.
Even though the story is categorized as yaoi, it takes a more subtle approach than most manga in the genre, where one party can be a little forceful, and the relationship is established almost instantly. Sasaki and Miyano is a very slow burn in that aspect.
The pair start off as friends who bond over their shared interest in yaoi manga. Even though their relationship develops, even they are unsure whether it is romantic or not. This is what makes the story good and keeps the main duo’s dynamic interesting for a long time.
Aside from the yaoi aspect, this story is a good romance in general and may even give some top-tier anime like Clannad a run for their money.
