The recent episode of Dr. Stone was an emotional rollercoaster; we got an incite of Tsukasa as a person. His character has so much depth for years he struggled to save her, and even after the petrification, he still earns to make a beautiful world for her; this gave us another reason to love him.

Somewhere all of us were waiting for a moment when Tsukasa and Senku will team up, and we finally saw their ultimate tag-team; after a long struggle, they could eventually reach a point of understanding the end battle was an epic scene, but Hyoga had to ruin it all, he caused a lethal wound to Tsukasa.

Even on the brink of death, Tsukasa continued to keep his once failed promise- to keep Senku away from dangers which makes it clear that Tsukasa is a great man. It will be painful to lose Tsukasa at this point. Will Tsukasa die and never return, or will Senku save him in the end?

Shishio Tsukasa does not die in Dr. Stone. After Hyoga’s fatal attack and massive blood loss, Senku scientifically kills Tsukasa and freezes him in a DIY cryogenic chamber in hopes of finding the petrification device and later revive Tsukasa using the ‘Dr. Stone.’

SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from Dr. Stone.

1. Why Did Hyoga Betray Tsukasa?

We were short on crazy lunatics who wanted to rule the entire world, and as a result, we got Hyoga. He dreams of world domination with superior humans while the weaker ones will perish.

He took Charles Darwin’s theory quite literally; a world where only the strongest, superior humans will survive, and he gets to choose these survivors, reminds you of someone from history?

As the strongest primate, Tsukasa was his only rival, and in Senku’s case, threatening him will do the job, or so Hyoga thought. It was necessary to get rid of Tsukasa for his masterplan to prevail. From the very start since Hyoga’s revival, he never once catered to Tsukasa’s plan, and after learning about Senku’s existence, he was waiting for a moment of weakness.

Until now, Tsukasa had nothing that held him back, but his little sister was his newfound weakness. Hyoga took advantage of the moment to strike back, and in the process, he fatally injured Tsukasa. If they had modern technology, it would have been easier to save him, but now it will be nearly impossible to operate him. But worry not, Senku will save him, Senku is smart enough to turn impossible things into possible, and this time it won’t be any different.

2.1 How Does Tsukasa Survive?

Although Hyoga considered Tsukasa’s ideology to be all mumbo-jumbo nonsense, it is interesting to have different complex philosophies pertaining to humankind in one series. Tsukasa has been the anti-hero of the show, he has finally joined hands with the Kingdom of Science, and it would be disheartening to lose him.

The poor man didn’t even get time to interact with his sister. The wound would ultimately kill Tsukasa, and performing surgery on him would not be possible in the current Stone World. But Senku finds another solution to save him, which is dangerous but is the only option left.

Senku makes a formula to seal his wound and stabilize his situation; however it’s still not enough to save him. To save Tsukasa, Senku will have to freeze his body and petrify it to revive Tsukasa through its peripheral restoration power.

2.2 Tsukasa’s Petrification and Depetrification

Luckily for Tsukasa, Senku neither turns his back on his friends nor does he take any “illogical steps.” After leaving the Japanese continent on a voyage to America following the footsteps of the great Christopher Columbus (more or less), Senku’s vessel takes a detour to a small island where the Soyuz capsule landed.

Senku knows that his father, Byakuya, managed to collect the rarest of the rare minerals, plutonium, and save it for Senku. I am not going to tell you how he knows that because that information is worth the wait. Moving on, when Senku reaches the island, he manages to find the plutonium that helps him create an unlimited supply of the revival fluid.

In addition to this, the science team gets its hands on an original petrification device, the Medusa, with just enough juice left to petrify Tsukasa. Senku saves Tsukasa in the later arcs of the manga with help of Dr. Stone (the combination of Medusa – the petrification device and the revival fluid.

3. Will Senku Die?

The end scene of episode 9 broke us a little. Senku received minor injuries that will heal while Tsukasa will eventually survive this crisis. Since Senku is the protagonist of Dr. Stone, it is improbable that he will die. If he were to die, it would be a doomsday for the Stone world; the scientific revolution will cease or, like history, take centuries to get back to where it was before the petrification.

Senku came back from death twice; he has been playing Phoenix for a while now.

Even if he were to die or get fatally wounded like Tsukasa, petrifying him once again will solve the issue. The petrification beam is strong enough to revive brain-dead people, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he’s resurrected back again, even if he dies.

Unlike last time he has more allies now who are a bunch of superhuman-like individuals; they will save him before his life is in jeopardy.  Through the power of science and, of course, with team spirit, Senku will not be facing this problem anytime soon.
