Will Deku become the strongest hero & surpass All Might?

Deku always dreamt of becoming a powerful hero and after gaining One for All, he finally has a chance of realizing this dream and becoming the strongest hero.

However, whether he will succeed his mentor, All Might, is still questionable. He still has quirks to develop and powerful enemies to face.

Izuku Midoriya, hero name Deku, is the current inheritor of One for All, and the successor of former strongest hero – All Might. After inheriting All Might’s One for All, Deku is well on his way to becoming one of the strongest if not the strongest hero of all times.

Midoriya contains not only the power of All Might but of all the users of One of All before him. The day he can master his control over this power, his strength may explosively burst and topple everything.

Will Deku become the #1 hero?

Izuku Midoriya will become the number 1 hero of all time. Deku himself mentions in My Hero Academia’s prologue that ‘this is the story of how he became the #1 hero.’ Also, Midoriya inherited the quirk One for All from ex-number 1 hero – All Might.

Here is the long answer with some counterpoints:

In the beginning of the series, Deku said that this was the story of how he became the greatest hero ever. There have been quite a few discussions surrounding this particular dialogue.

This is The Story Of how I became the worlds Greatest Hero
Midoriya’s Prologue

The implications behind this dialogue are vague. He might have said greatest but being that does not guarantee him the top 1 spot.

Knowing how strong One for All is, and how the story is framed, Deku is likely to become the number one hero, but he doesn’t have to gain that position for his prediction of becoming the “greatest” hero to come true.

He could do something truly heroic that is never recognized publicly or die in battle before reaching the top. Or he could become the greatest in one particular respect.

The number one spot is entirely dependent on what people know, and what metrics they use to measure.

Will he surpass All Might?

Deku aka Midoriya will surpass All Might. Recent chapters of My Hero Academia revealed that the quirk factors of every previous One For All bearer have been dormant inside the main quirk, and are passed along between users.

Since Deku has inherited One For All from All Might, he’s developing his own way of using it along with awakening the quirk factors of previous users.

As his training progresses, he will likely devise new applications for the quirk that All Might didn’t think of. On top of that, the power grows each time someone new wields it, so Deku is destined to become stronger than All Might, his predecessor.

I. What does Shigaraki’s new power mean for Deku?

In the recent chapters, it has been revealed that Tomura Shigaraki has not only had his disintegration quirk boosted by Ujiko but also has the power of All For One at his disposal.

Shigaraki is now able to tap into a new power when he needs it the most and has become stronger than ever before.

Shigaraki

It is believed that Shigaraki will surpass the original limits of All for One and become much stronger than his mentor. To stand a chance against him, and to defeat him, Deku needs to develop upon his One for All and unlock and master the hidden quirks of the previous users.

Will he fight Shigaraki?

As the inheritor of One for All, Deku will stand against Shigaraki who is the inheritor of All for one. Since Shigaraki and Deku possess complete control over their respective quirks, they now represent the next apotheosis of their respective alignments.

The close connection between All For One and One For All is something the young hero is able to palpably sense, meaning the two are now about to start repeating the paths of their respective mentors.

Izuku Midoriya’s newly-evolving One For All power and Tomura Shiagraki’s newly-revealed All For One power will certainly be revealed when these two rivals, each carrying the ultimate power of good and evil, meet and fight.

However, once that happens, it’s not just the risk of both boys dying in the fight but it could be the fulfillment of the Quirk Singularity doomsday theory that Garaki warned of.

I. Paranormal Singularity Theory

As the ‘Paranormal Liberation War‘ arc unfolds in the manga, there’s been one deep-simmering part of the storyline that’s suddenly bubbling up to the surface i.e. the Quirk Singularity Theory.

The latest chapters of My Hero Academia have seen the Pro Heroes capture All For One’s longtime disciple, Dr. Ujiko.

As it turns out, Ujiko aka Dr. Garaki was the man who first proposed the ‘Paranormal Singularity Theory‘, which predicted that after enough generations, quirks would intensify exponentially, until they became too powerful for people to control, and would end up consuming the world.

Now, after My Hero Academia’s war arc has revealed some substantial changes to the powers of both Izuki Midoriya and his rival Tomura Shigaraki, the chances of this theory coming true have dramatically increased.

What’s happening with Deku and Shigaraki isn’t just the next generation of the All Might  and All For One rivalry taking shape.

My Hero Academia has been stressing that both boys are on the verge of major power upgrades, and the levels of power their battle would unleash are on a whole other scale compared to predecessors.

This could very well be what breaks the society of My Hero Academia universe. The reason is that, once they stand against each other, no matter who emerges as the winner, there is a risk of both boys dying in the fight but also the knowledge that quirks can become Omega-level threats will change everything.
