Who Is Senku’s Real Father? Is He Dead?

Senku’s relationship with his father is one of the most wholesome aspects of Dr. Stone, but with the revelation of his adoption, some questions come to mind.

Senku’s love for science was directly influenced by his father, who was the epitome of a loving parent. Stills where they gazed at the moon, or when Senku built a machine for Byakuya to pass his astronaut test, warmed our hearts. However, in a heartbreaking moment, a few secrets were divulged.

As it turns out, after the passing of around 4000 years since the petrification event, Byakuya had long been dead. However, he did not fail to show Senku his love by leaving a message and an account of everything that happened in the form of stories and a disk.

During this time, Senku admitted that he was not directly related to Byakuya and was actually adopted by him. Judging from their physical similarities and bond, it came as an absolute shock to the fans that this father-son duo were not blood-related.

With this reveal, Senku’s birth parents’ identity has become one of the series’s central mysteries. Let’s take a look at what we know about them to date and how important of a role they might assume in Dr. Stone in the future.

1. Who Is Senku’s Real Father?

Senku’s real father is a good friend of his adoptive father, Byakuya Ishigami. It is currently unknown whether he is dead or alive, as Senku never had any interest in finding out the particulars behind his adoption.

Senku was adopted by Byakuya Ishigami and shared a deep bond with him, akin to a real father and son. When the petrification event occurred, Byakuya was on the space station, thus escaping the fate of turning to stone.

Senku’s Father, Who Establish The Ishigami Village

Unfortunately, when Senku finally de-petrified 3700+ years later, his adoptive father was already dead, with only a village, stories, and a disk to his name.

When the series revealed that Senku was the son of the founder of the Ishigami village, Kohaku blushed and exclaimed that it was probable that all of them were related to him. At this moment, Senku revealed that he shared no blood relation to Byakuya and that he was actually the son of his adoptive father’s good friend.

He also mentioned that Byakuya never said much about his parents, and neither did Senku care enough to ask. Just like this, Dr. Stone left fans wondering whether this plot point was of any particular significance other than making the Senku x Kohaku ship legal and incest-free.

2. Is Senku’s Dad Dead?

Senku’s adoptive dad, Byakuya Ishigami, is dead due to old age. On the other hand, his biological father is assumed to be alive due to the antenna catching a voice that sounds eerily similar to Senku’s.

After the Kingdom of Science succeeded in building an antenna, they received a radio wave message that sounded ominous, to say the least.

This message simply said “WHY” in morse code and came from the moon. Due to this, it was dubbed “Whyman,” and Senku believed it to be the source of humankind’s petrification.

After the Kingdom of Science was finally done with the Treasure Island, an unknown radio signal attempted to activate the Medusa by stating a distance and time.

The voice that tried to activate it sounded eerily similar to Senku’s, making it possible for the person behind it to be Senku’s dad. This theory, however, seems too far-fetched. Most of the audience actually believes that Senku’s biological father is dead, and ByakuyaIshigami is his only real dad.

Furthermore, fans assume that the “Senku being adopted” thing is just incorporated in the series so that he isn’t related to Kohaku, making their ship valid.

However, other than this slight reason, it doesn’t do anything much for the story and seems forced. Inagaki is less likely to do something of this sort, due to which we’re not ruling out the possibility of Senku’s biological father turning up in the series later, or at least, be involved with the petrification.

What’s even more mind-boggling is how it has been universally accepted that the “good friend” of Byakuya Ishigami is a man and not a woman. While keeping a look-out for a green-haired man in Dr. Stone, we might miss out on obvious clues about Senku’s mother.

No matter what, there has been little to no information about Senku’s biological parents, and assuming they play an essential role in the series, we’ll get to learn about them sooner or later.
