Emma promised Ray and everyone else that they would not wound up as the Ratri Clan, that they would all go to the human world together as a happy family. However, this might prove to be challenging to fulfill.
After Emma successfully passes all the trials, she meets Him. Whether He agrees to fulfill Emma’s wish, the reward he may ask for in exchange might be too heavy.
1. What is Emma’s promised contract?
The promise Emma made with HIM (The One) in order for every cattle child to be sent back to the human world was letting go of her family. It meant that she would return to the human world far away from them and without her memories.
This was Emma’s promised contract with the Demon God, aka The One.
2. What is ‘The Promise’ in The Promised Neverland?
Anyone, be it human or demon, can make a promise with Him. They can do so as long as they go through a special ritual and a trial that involves a strange metaphysical puzzle. If the promise attracts Him, he will accept it but will ask for a reward in exchange.
There are three rules you must follow after making a promise. They are:-
- You cannot overwrite a promise with Him
- You cannot break a promise with Him
- You cannot reject the reward.
3. What was the Old Promise?
There have been many promises made with Him, such as the ones with the previous Queen and the Ratri Clan.
The old promise made between Julius Ratri of the Ratri Clan and Him 1000 years ago is to separate humans and demons from each other as a form of a non-aggression pact between the two races.
In return, since Julius Ratri betrayed his friends so that he could end the war and finally live in peace, He asks that Julius and his descendants to be in charge of keeping the human side of the deal and collaborate with the Demons forever, so that he can never escape his guilt as a reward.
Julius and his descendants are to be forever stuck in an eternal cycle to oversee the Promise.
Since they are the overseers to keep the “Promise” intact, they aim to kill the children who escaped the farms and Goldy Pond.
4. Who is HIM in The Promised Neverland?
Him, also known as The One, is the God (or the King) of all Demons and the Demon World. He is often referred to as a deity. His actual name is not yet clear, but it is mentioned in several instances and is pronounceable by humans.
He lives in a special dimension where the laws of time and physics aren’t the same. It is said to be located in a mysterious space with a dragon. Anyone who tries to contact Him must go through a special ritual and a trial that involves a strange metaphysical puzzle.
He has a small, rather child-like appearance. He’s dressed in somewhat royal garments along with a cloak. His head consists of a skull with large horns. In the middle, He has one eye surrounded by three star-like markings. He is also able to take on a more humanoid and adult appearance.
If He is to grant someone’s wish, He demands the exact kind of compensation and will not accept any kind of rejection.
5. What are Emma’s Fake & Real Promises?
The promise Emma made with Him in order for every cattle child to be sent back to the human world was letting go of her family.
After passing all the trials laid down by Him, Emma asked for him to let every cattle child escape to the human world and to sever all connections between both worlds after that. He agreed but in return as a reward, asked Emma to let go of her family.
This meant that they could all go out to the human world, but he would take away Emma’s memories of her family. She wouldn’t remember her name, her family, and anything and everything she did with them.
Unfortunately, Emma couldn’t keep her promise to Ray and everyone else that they would not wound up as the Ratri Clan, that they would all go to the human world together as a happy family.
Emma agrees to His conditions, and the promise is then sealed.
6. Will Emma and the others reunite?
After Emma seals her Promise with Him, all the children are sent out of the demon world. Emma, however, is not with them. She is in a different place, with all her memories gone. When she wakes up, an older man cares for her and takes her in.
Emma still has the necklace that Sonju and Mujika gave her. She can see faceless people calling her name when she holds it, but cannot identify them or her name.
Since Emma didn’t tell the children that her memories will be taken away, they have already started searching for her after reaching New York. In yesterday’s release, they showed that the older man and Emma came to the market. In the same market, Ray and Anna were present. That’s how the chapter ended.
Emma and the others might reunite. Still, it will be a heartbreaking moment as she has absolutely no memories of them.
