SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from Yashashime: Princess Half-Demon.

Kagome and InuYasha have been sealed inside the Black Pearl thanks to Lord Sesshōmaru’s interference! No details have been revealed as to how long they’ve been staying there.

But as of Season 2, we can estimate that they’ve been staying there for the whole 14 to 15 years — the same number of years as Moroha’s age as of Season 2.

You might also think, “Sesshōmaru again? I thought the feud between these half-brothers has finished a long time ago.”

Apparently, yes. The feud between InuYasha and Sesshōmaru over their father’s sword was over. But that doesn’t mean that InuYasha and Sesshōmaru have become loving brothers to one another after “InuYasha: The Final Act”. No.

InuYasha and Sesshōmaru’s relationship is as stoic as it has always been as seen in “InuYasha” and in “InuYasha: The Final Act”. But they can’t be as close to one another as other brotherly anime characters (e.g., Edward and Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist) because that would be unnatural story-wise.

As for Kagome, she just got caught in the middle of InuYasha and Sesshōmaru’s family feud (not over the Tessaiga sword though). Rather, it has something to do with Kirinmaru! Both Kirinmaru and Sesshōmaru loath half-demons because they’re a disgrace to the Yōkai clan.

So, when Kirinmaru proposed to Sesshōmaru to assassinate InuYasha and his family, Sesshōmaru agreed. But Sesshōmaru did not agree to this deal out of thin air.

He has a backup plan and does not want InuYasha to meddle in Rin and Zero’s affairs (which is another whole can of worms we need to talk about in another article) instead of chopping his younger half-brother’s head.

So, instead of murdering InuYasha and Kagome, Sesshōmaru sealed them inside the Black Pearl (the pearl that used to hide the location of InuYasha’s Tessaiga sword). Now that they’re out of the way, Sesshōmaru thought that InuYasha won’t cut off Rin’s life when he fights and kills Lady Zero.

Had Sesshōmaru let InuYasha rampage around the Sengoku Jidai to kill Lady Zero, two people would die: Lady Zero herself and Rin. After all, Lady Zero’s death means Rin’s death because their fates are bound through the silver-scaled curse that consumes Rin’s life.

Will Kagome and InuYasha be seen in Season 2?

Kagome and InuYasha have had some minutes of screentime in Yashahime Seasons 1 and 2. But sadly, their cameos were seen only in an average of 2 to 3 episodes — and in flashbacks, too.

So, we cannot tell what kind of lives they’ve been living in the netherworld or the in the “Border of the Afterlife” the location of InuYasha’s father’s grave.

After all, what else is there aside from corpses and skeletons of aged-old Yōkais who have passed away (like Hōsenki for example)?

Hōsenki is that old demon whose corpse bequeathed InuYasha the Kongōsōha (also known as the “Adamant Barrage” or the “Diamond Spear Blast”).

Hōsenki didn’t make an appearance in Yashahime, and we’re speculating that he won’t because the series is focusing on the three half-demon princesses: Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha.

So, fans could assume that Hōsenki could talk to Kagome and InuYasha about a way to get out of the netherworld. Sadly, that hasn’t been revealed in Yashahime.

What plans could InuYasha and Kagome try to implement to exit the netherworld? For now, we can’t say as we’ve only seen a little of them and only their flashback lives in Yashahime.

Will Moroha meet Kagome and InuYasha?

Moroha did briefly meet Kagome and InuYasha in Season 2. Sadly, this only happened for 1 to 2 minutes because Moroha swung by the afterlife as her destination is Mount Musubi.

Though, Moroha did get a glance of her parents’ faces in the series and not just in Papa Sota’s photo album (as seen in an episode in Season 2).

It’s great to see how Sōta is showing the photo album of Kagome and InuYasha to her niece! It’s a heartfelt family moment even though it only had a 1 to 2-minute screentime.

And not only that! In Episode 10 of Season 2, Moroha is learning of Kagome and InuYasha’s misadventures with the Raccoon Dog through Takechiyo and Hachiemon.

Though Moroha cannot be with her parents until the series ends, we’re glad to know she’s learning bits and pieces about Kagome and InuYasha’s misadventures.

Fans will certainly look forward to that day when InuYasha will tease Moroha (by bonking or patting his daughter’s head) and when Kagome can give a big and warm “Welcome Home” hug to her beloved daughter. That’s gonna be one big sight of a family to behold.
