SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from One Piece.

Chapter 1060 of One Piece revealed the series’ creepiest character and possibly Luffy’s final antagonist: Im-sama.

We only got a glimpse of their red whirly eye, but their true revelation came in the form of their insane demonstration of power.

Im bears the highest sovereignty in the world and sits on the Throne which everyone thought to be empty. He is the secret ruler of the world.

In chapter 1060, Im wipes the rebellious kingdom of Lulusia from existence with a single blast of power. Im’s power could either have come from the Ancient Weapon Uranus or from an unknown Devil Fruit capable of causing widescale destruction.

Does Im Control the Third Ancient Weapon, Uranus?

The events in chapter 1060 make it highly likely that it is Im who controls the final Ancient Weapon Uranus.

Uranus, like the other two Ancient Weapons Pluton and Poseidon, is said to be capable of destroying an entire island. Im one-shots the island of Lulusia.

Lulusia is – was – one of the 8 kingdoms that decided to revolt against the World Government after the Reverie and the Revolutionary Army’s invasion of Mary Geoise.

The Lulusia rebellion had begun slightly earlier, when King Seki and his royal guard left for the Reverie.

Pinkbeard, Blackbeard’s subordinate, assaulted the island, and the Revolutionary Army came to defend them. Since then, the people of the island have revolted against the World Government and the kingdom’s royal family who were affiliated to the Government.

As we hear from the 5 Elders/Gorosei in chapter 1060, Sabo is currently and unfortunately hiding in Lulusia Kingdom. One of them mentions that it is fate that Sabo is there.

Im had decided to destroy this rebellion by destroying the kingdom itself, just as he had done earlier, with Ohara, and even before, with God Valley.

Although Ohara’s genocide was carried out by the Marines, God Valley Island was destroyed so completely, that there is no trace of it in history.

This is the same kind of annihilation that occurs in chapter 1060, where Im rains such destruction that it’s like Lulusia “never existed.”

The one-and-only solid fact that we know about the 3 Ancient Weapons is that they are the most dangerous and powerful weapons of mass destruction.

It would make sense for the most mysterious and dangerous character to control the most mysterious and dangerous Ancient Weapon, especially to use it for unprecedented evil. Mercilessly killing the people of an entire island is something only Im can do.

The Lulusians see a giant shadow engulfing the island and in the matter of a second, there’s a shower of beams or lasers, and the whole island is blown apart.

We have always suspected that Uranus is a weapon that would be sky-based given the mythological connotations of the 3 Ancient Weapons.

The Ancient Weapon Poseidon is named after the Greek God, Poseidon, who is the god of the sea. The Mermaid Princess and daughter of King Neptune, Shirahoshi, is the current reincarnation of Poseidon, who is capable of commanding the Sea Kings and flooding the world.

The Ancient Weapon Pluton is named after the Roman God, Hades, the king of the underworld. Pluton is the world’s worst battleship battleship lying asleep or latent under Wano and beneath Mt. Fuji, and will be activated when the borders of Wano are broken down.

The Ancient Weapon Uranus is named after the Greek God, Uranus, the primordial god of the sky and heaven. Nothing is known about Uranus, but from the latest chapter, we can deduce that Uranus is some kind of flying object/entity controlled by Im.

There are some theories that say that Im is a god himself, having lived since the Void Century, and thus might be Uranus themselves.

But if this was so, Garp and Sengoku would know of their existence since they were present when God Valley was destroyed. The only ones aware of Im are the Gorosei.

A more likely explanation is that Im remotely controls Uranus, which might be a flying ship or a space station – like the Death Star, the galactic superweapon from Star Wars. It could also be a somewhat animate being, not sentient like Shirahoshi, but not inanimate like Pluton.

Does Im have a Devil Fruit?

If Im doesn’t have the Ancient Weapon Uranus, they definitely have a Devil Fruit with a power similar to that of the Ancient Weapons. It would have to be a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit, or even something we haven’t heard of before, like a type-hybrid, or a new type entirely.

The theories that Im has the Mythical Zoan Angel Angel Devil Fruit might explain his otherworldly power and also how he’s been lurking around since more than 800 years.

There’s also a theory of how Im might be based on the Egyptian deity, Amun, the king of the gods and the ruler of air.

So, a Mythical Zoan Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Amun wouldn’t be entirely out of the question, since we already have Luffy’s Model: Nika, based on Sun God Nika.

Im kind of resembles Amun physically, but there’s also another thing that might pique your interest: a queen called Ahmose Nefertari was given the title of God’s Wife of Amun. Im does seem obsessed with Neferati Vivi for some reason – maybe they want to make her their queen?

The most likely explanation, however, remains that Im has Uranus; Im having a Devil Fruit, however powerful, wouldn’t explain the shadow that formed above Lulusia before its prompt destruction.

But then again, anything can happen in One Piece, so we gotta expect the unexpected.
