Crunchyroll Unveils ‘Trigun Stampede’ Trailer With the Backstory of Vash and Knives

Separated due to a tragic past and reunited again as enemies, Vash and Knives’ story is one for the ages. Even though their tale ended long ago, these brothers are now back in Trigun Stampede with a brand new saga.

We all know how Vash or the Humanoid Typhoon is the most feared name in all of Gunsmoke, but did you know how he earned that title? It all started when Knives tried to tamper with Vash’s dormant power, resulting in a huge blast and wipe-out of nearly 200,000 people.

Long before that happened, the twins lived happier lives with their caregiver, Rem, while oblivious to the truth about why they exist.

Crunchyroll has revealed the first look at the Trigun Stampede anime previewing Vash and Knives’ traumatic past and how they ended up on Gunsmoke. The anime will premiere in 2023, and Crunchyroll will be streaming it globally.

It starts with Rem putting Vash and Knives in an escape pod as the ship they were on malfunctions. To protect the others, Rem stays behind and tries to save the shit from exploding. Unfortunately, the ship blows up right when the twins’ escape pod leaves and Rem sacrifices her life.

We then see a grown-up Vash trying to find his long-lost brother Knives in the far east. But he didn’t expect his brother to be the complete opposite of him, leading to a serious brawl between the two.

The trailer ends with Vash looking at the apocalyptic destruction they caused as Knives maniacally tells him they did this all together as if it’s a site of beauty, not horror.

The destruction at the end of the trailer is the reason why Vash has a sixty billion double dollar bounty over his head.
