According to Tom Hiddleston, Loki’s TV show will tell if he is really dead. Loki, the God of Mischief, disappeared in Avengers: Endgame, creating an alternate timeline. The upcoming Loki show on Disney+ will be about the adventures of the alternate 2012 version of Loki. Tom Hiddleston will be reprising his role as Loki.
Now the actor has himself cleared this up while being interviewed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Even though Marvel has trained (threatened maybe!?) the actors well( except for Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo) to keep secrets, the British actor did reveal a little snippet after Colbert needled him a few times.
Hiddleston said, “In the years since Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, which came out this spring… Two questions I’ve been asked are “Is Loki really dead?” and “what’s Loki doing with that cube?” [Laughs] It’s always the cube somehow. And this series will answer both of those questions.”
Colbert tried his best to get something out of Hiddleston and asked him something about time travel in Avengers: Endgame, but Hiddleston kept mum. I bet Kevin Feige was proud of Hiddleston in that moment.
Still, the little snippet from Tom confirms that the blue Infinity Stone still has some work to do. The Tesseract will likely play a more significant role beyond just helping Loki escape. There will be things like time travel and exploring the cosmos and there were even rumours that the Loki series will tie up to Thor: Love and Thunder.
The God of Mischief is coming back and we will find out the truth about his fate soon. Production on Loki kicks off in early 2020, with the show due on Disney+ about a year later in early 2021.
