Tokyo Revengers, the anime that we didn’t know we needed. Tokyo Revengers has been a blessing in disguise for 2021, since its release on April 11 it’s topping the charts and breaking records.
Tokyo Revengers is based on the manga with the same name, written by Ken Wakui which shook the whole manga universe when it was published. The writer got inspired from Re:ZERO and Erased to write this legendary masterpiece.
The manga became so popular that it even surpassed Demon Slayer in sales and the anime popularity skyrocket to surpass the most popular series of this year, Jujutsu Kaisen. The anime with the cry baby hero never giving up attitude for what he holds dear to him, is moving everyone’s hearts around him in the anime and fans alike.
The anime became so popular that it even got its very own live-action movie. It became the highest-grossing anime Live-Action movie in history which just shows how great the Tokyo Revengers anime is.
Will there be a Season 2 of Tokyo Revengers?
Tokyo Revengers season 1 is of two cours without a break, which started as Spring anime and will be ending as part of the Summer anime season.
As of now, there is no official news about season 2. Given its high popularity, I’m sure Liden Films won’t keep us waiting for a second season. It may follow the same pattern of two cours just like season 1.
When will Tokyo Revengers Season 2 Release?
The studio will likely release news about season 2 once the ongoing season 1 ends. Revenues play a vital role in anime production but for Tokyo Revengers that isn’t an issue.
The main issue will likely be studio availability since anime productions are scheduled out years in advance.
Keeping that in mind, Tokyo Revengers season 2 is likely to be released by late 2022 to mid-2023.
What will be the plot for Tokyo Revengers Season 2?
The first season is said to be of 24 episodes, with the ongoing anime currently at episode 17. If this season ends with the Valhalla arc, then season 2 will start off with the “Black Dragon Arc”.
The plot will follow Toman being a well-structured gang in the future, with Takemichi finding out he is a top admin in Toman.
A new gang comes into play, the Black Dragon who was once the number one gang in Tokyo during its prime. He also finds out that Toman now has one of the Black Dragon members joining them. However, things haven’t changed yet as Kisaki still rules over Toman.
So, Takemichi once again has to go back in time to remove both the Black Dragon’s and Kisaki from Toman to save those he cares about.
The twist and turns, adrenaline rush, and strong determination it’s giving us this ongoing journey will end with episode 24 of the series in September, next month.
With that said, it isn’t the end of the journey as we have season 2 to look forward to. The wait may be long for season 2 but it’s totally worth the wait, given how good the anime is ongoing currently!!
