Tokyo Revengers’ First Key Visual Depicts Takemichi’s Tragedy

Anime with time-loops always draw a large chunk of the audience. Be it a mystery genre like ‘ERASED’ or a little light-hearted one like ‘The Girl Who Leapt Through Time,’ it never fails to keep us on the edge of our seats with its unpredictable plot.

The upcoming Tokyo Revengers anime will be another such anime, following Takemichi Hanagaki’s journey to save his dead girlfriend from a twelve-year time loop.

On Friday, the Tokyo Revengers franchise revealed the first key visual for its anime adaptation. It is scheduled to premiere in April 2021.

The visual features Takemichi, totally broken by the loss of his girlfriend, Hinata. He is seen shedding tears in flames and hugging her one last time.

The visual is quite detailed, making the anime seem quite promising already. And why won’t it be? The staff and cast include some of the popular names in the industry.

Like any other high school anime, it will portray the bonds of friendship and the power of love, but with a touch of sci-fi elements.

Here, the protagonist, Takemichi Hanagaki, hits the rock-bottom in his life, from where there is no turning back. A twelve-year time loop gives him an opportunity to fix all his past mistakes.

Well, he certainly won’t get as many chances as Subaru from Re:ZERO. But when it comes to saving the girl they like, we all know how far the anime protagonists can go.

Will Takemichi manage to rewrite his wretched life? Or will ‘regret’ be his ultimate fate once again? We will find it out after a few months when the anime premieres.

The story revolves around Takemichi Hanagaki, who learned that Tokyo Manji Gang had killed his only ex-girlfriend from back in middle school. After learning about the incident, Takemichi was pushed from the railway platform.

Landing on the tracks, he closed his eyes, accepting his death, but when he opened his eyes, he had time-leaped 12 into the past.

Finding that he had traveled back to a time when he was dating Hinata Tachibana, he decides to infiltrate the Tokyo Manji Gang and climb the ranks to rewrite the future and prevent Hinata’s death.
