Japan Battles Germany in the Upcoming ‘The Prince of Tennis’ Series

Ryoma Echizen is returning to the court with team Japan as ‘The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup’ ended with their victory against France. For almost half of the series, he dealt with facing his former friends.

Tezuka, however, still represents Team Germany – the team Japan is supposed to face now. Both Ryoma and Tezuka resolve to not hold back when they face each other.

On Sunday, the official website for ‘The Prince of Tennis’ series revealed that a sequel series is underway. It is titled ‘The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal’ and is scheduled for 2024.

The new series was announced with a logo, depicting the match between Japan and Germany. It displayed the colors red and black, which represent the Japanese and the German teams respectively.

No further details have been revealed as of now, but Crunchyroll is speculated to stream the series as it previously streamed ‘The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup’. The 2022 series was the ‘latest anime installment’ after a decade since the first series in January 2012.

The following staff members are expected to return from the ‘Hyotei vs. Rikkai Game of Future’ OVA series and the 2022 series:

The match between Ryoma and Tezuka would be as fiery as the former’s match with Chardard. It might even be more than that, because of Tezuka’s contribution to Ryoma’s development as a pro tennis player. We will have to wait for the official teaser to share that with us.

About The Prince of Tennis

The Prince of Tennis is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Takeshi Konomi.

An anime television series animated by Trans Arts, co-produced by Nihon Ad Systems and directed by Takayuki Hamana, was broadcast on TV Tokyo from October 10, 2001, to March 30, 2005, spanning a total of 178 episodes.

The story centers around Ryoma Echizen, son of the legendary “Samurai Nanjiro,” who retired very early from his professional tennis career despite his undeniable talent.

At age 12, Ryoma begins attending Seishun Academy Middle School in Tokyo, Japan, and joins its boys’ tennis team.

The title of the series comes from Ryoma’s title, “The Prince of Tennis,” after winning four tournaments back in America before the events of the manga.
