Black Clover never fails to bring in captivating characters and in the latest arc (Arc 11), three merciless villains have been introduced. These three mages: Dante, Vanica, and Zenon form the evil trio called the Dark Triad.
The objective of this trio is to create the Tree of Qliphoth, which is a channel between the world of devils and humans.
Now you would wonder who might be the most evil and dangerous one among the three. It might seem that the twisted one is Dante as he seems to be the one giving orders, but a closer inspection shows that the other two are equally cruel.
Vanica is quite an upbeat villain. She is the kind to wear a sweet smile while killing someone, which is quite bone-chilling. As she makes her entrance in chapter 251, she cheerfully declares her purpose of fighting Lolopechka.
She further clarifies that the only reason she sent the Dark Disciples to harm civilian areas is to make Lolopechka more inclined to fight. Her minions are stage zero mages with immense powers which can be revived as long as Vanica is alive. She even demonstrates her power by crushing one of her own disciples and then reviving him.
Zenon is a cold-blooded person who likes to settle matters with outright use of magic and strength. He wreaks destruction on the members of the Golden Dawn to capture William Vengeance.
His cold attitude is visible as he doesn’t even care about his own subordinates. He calls them weak and useless and treats them as stepping stones to further improvement in his strategy. He impales Yuno with his devilish strength and leaves him to die. He is driven with a sense of loyalty towards the Spade kingdom. Often the ones who seem to think they are serving a cause come out to be the most destructive of all.
Dante is the host to the devil Lucifero and seems to be a pessimistic nihilist as opposed to Vanica. He believes that the true nature of humanity is evil, and he is just a liberator of the true side of humans. Embracing evil is an honorable feat for him, and he does not stop at anything to bring out the malice of a person.
He attempted to kill Gauche just to get a spark out of Asta. The misogyny in his character is visible as he demands Vanessa and Grey to be his women. For him, anger, hatred and revenge are the true feelings of man. He seems to be causing destruction for the sole reason of finding someone worth fighting as he has lost interest in all matters surrounding him.
As for now, Dante seems to be the most wicked out of the three because of his twisted sense of belief regarding the world. His pessimistic and disinterested approach seems chilling. But we never know what new sides to the villains might come up in the next chapters.
