The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 4 Recap
Shaun has his hesitations about Salen’s billboard ad on his profile, that even mentions the fact that he’s autistic. He tells her he doesn’t like it and that he wants it removed but Salen tells him to take some time to think about it. Shaun, Andrews and Mateo treat a young girl named Holly, whose father has done intensive research on her condition and self-diagnosed her with visceral myopathy.
There is friction between him and the father and Shaun ends up snapping at him and telling him he shouldn’t depend on the internet for medical diagnoses. However, the father ends up being right and Salen appoints him the role of consulting physician in this case. Shaun, on the other hand, ends up getting removed from the case altogether on account of how rude he was to the patient’s father.
Later in the episode, Shaun realises that he’d been wrong about the billboard. This causes him to have an epiphany about Holly’s case and he rushes into surgery to suggest inserting a feeding tube into her colon, which was also her father’s suggested treatment. The doctors realise this is the better course of action and scrub him in. Shaun also agrees to keep the billboard up.
