The CW Officially Announces Superman & Lois TV Show

We may not be aware of Henry Cavill Superman’s fate in the DC movies, but Tyler Hoechlin’s future on the small screen is bright. Ever since Tyler’s appearance on the show Supergirl, fans have been calling for him to get his own Superman TV show. Finally, the show is happening and has been confirmed by Deadline this week.

Titled Superman & Lois, the series will star Hoechlin as Clark Kent and Elizabeth Tulloch – who first joined the Arrowverse in last year’s ‘Elseworlds’ crossover – as Lois Lane. It won’t be a prequel that fills in the past of these characters but will pick up from where we’ll find them in December’s Crisis on Infinite Earths, as parents to their newly-born kid.

Here’s precisely how Deadline describes it:

“Superman & Lois revolves around the world’s most famous superhero and comic books’ most famous journalist as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.”

Many DC shows on the CW network have been running since 2012 and are unlikely to be renewed. Most importantly, Arrow is in its final season.

Thus development teams are working on producing two more high-quality shows – Superman & Lois and an Arrow spinoff titled Green Arrow and the Canaries. The spinoff set to star Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy Rodgers and Juliana Harkavy as Mia Smoak, Laurel Lance and Dinah Drake, respectively.

Hoechlin has been portraying Clark Kent/Superman on the CW’s Arrowverse series since 2016, primarily on Supergirl along with his Kryptonian cousin. Tulloch was cast as Lois Lane last year when she appeared alongside Hoechlin’s Man of Steel in the 2018 Arrowverse crossoverShe has since appeared as Lois Lane on Supergirl, The Flash and Batwoman. Both Hoechlin and Tulloch are set to reprise their roles in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover event.
