The 8th Son? Are you kidding me? Season 2 Release Info

The isekai genre has been drenched down to the level of lowly degenerates and generic plot with loads of fanservice in it.

There was a time when fans enjoyed watching isekai anime, but nowadays, things aren’t the same. The repetitive use of the same plot and gags have turned the isekai into a nightmare.

Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou! or better known as The 8th Son? Are you kidding me? tries to stay away from the archetype that the other isekai has established over the years.

For instance, in the beginning, the protagonist, after being summoned, didn’t become an overpowered hero, and instead had to train hard and work diligently to his way to the top.

People loved the change and are eagerly waiting for the second season. Here’s everything you need to know about the popular isekai series.

1. Season 2 Release Date

The production team for ‘The 8th Son? Are you kidding me? Season 2′ hasn’t made any official announcement for now. But if one is to guess, then the second season will be released sometime in Spring 2021.

2. Theory Section

I. Will there be a second season?

The renewal of the anime series is very questionable at the moment. Despite being unique in a few aspects, the show doesn’t shy away from using the run-down jokes and overused tropes.

While the anime proves to be better than the source material, it pretty much comes out as another generic isekai only.

The 8th son? Are you kidding me? got famous due to one reason. A majority of the shows were delayed due to the pandemic, and this one fortunately didn’t and made it to the very few anime which broadcasted as per schedule.

Big names like Re: Zero S2 and the final season of SAO got pushed back, and all the limelight fell upon this series only.

The next year is going to be hard for The 8th son as some pretty famous titles than it are releasing. My next life as a Villainess, S2 and Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 2, are getting released, they both are better reviewed, and can be deemed as a good isekai, unlike The 8th Son.

Still, Iskeai sequels are fashion in nowadays. If ‘How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord’ can get a second season, then ‘The 8th Son Season 2’ isn’t a distant dream.

II. The Animation

The production of the anime is a collective effort of two studios – Synergy SP and Shin-Ei Animation. The animation is decent as to say. It’s nothing out of the ordinary; it looks like the studios weren’t even trying to make an anime.

For an isekai anime to bloom, the show needs a distinctive cast even if it’s the physical characteristics, but sorry to say, this never had one. All the female characters look the same molded with lackluster dress codes. Even the CGI seems horrible. It’s merely watchable.

III. Why is the show popular?

Iskeai has always been popular regardless of the overused plots and the hit and miss comedy. As this series dwell away from some of the cliched tropes, anime fans found it a bit amusing and exciting.

It won’t be wrong to say that the anime stays loyal to the tried tropes of the genre but stands out in several aspects because of a few subtle changes.

For instance, it focuses on the primary characters and adds depth to them, making it feel more relatable to us as an audience which works wonders.

Despite being an isekai, the show manages to pull a thumbs up from its viewers now and then. Furthermore, it was an isekai, so its popularity spiked up in no time and quickly gained a considerable fanbase.

IV. About the writer

The writer is very discreet and seems like he/she doesn’t like fame. Y.A. is the person behind the fantasy light novel series.
