For regular anime viewers, “The Misfit of Demon King Academy” seems like it doesn’t have much potential as an anime show, since it has overpowered characters and a magic academy storyline.
However, there’s more to the story than meets the eye. My first impression of this show reminds me a lot of “Harry Potter” vibes as the premiered episode of the series showcases owls, castles, and a dark atmosphere. Here’s the complete review: The Misfit of a Demon King Academy Review!
Rather than dealing with witches and wizards, the series tackles demons versus humans, or sometimes, a mixed of both.
Upon realizing the show is based on a light novel, I immediately realized the need to identify 10 of the strongest characters in the series so far.
Disclaimer: The list below consists of characters from the anime and the light novel; henceforth, minor spoilers will be mentioned. Enjoy reading!
He is a demon duke who mocks and challenged Anos, while unbeknownst to him that Anos is the demon king. Zepes possesses a family sword he inherited from several generations in his clan.
As a magic user, he controls demon flame and brags a lot about his mighty strength, as well as his demon sword.
Despite being a strange demon, Zepes doesn’t easily concede defeat to his opponents.
As the daughter of one of the “Seven Elder Demon Emperors“, Emilia considered herself to be of royal and pure-blood.
Thanks to her status, she deems herself worthy of her fire powers and her teaching position at Hero Academy. Her fire powers have the ability to burn and collapse her targets; she also has the ability to fly.
He is a noble whom Anos fought immediately because of the defeat of his younger brother (Zepes) against Anos.
As a proud royal, Leorig used “Origin Magic” and dispels hatred through force. “Origin Magic” is where the spellcaster borrows powers from their god.
Upon his initial confrontation with Anos, Leorig introduces himself as one of the “Demon Emperors” and the head of his family.
With arrogance and confidence oozing from him, he punishes and kills even his brother cause of the shame, weakness, and humiliation Zepes brought in the family.
Known as “the child of god”, her birth and existence is dependent upon concepts or intangible aspects, particularly those directing to another individual.
Her spirit formation (her birth) is due to the traditions and rumours that spread around town and across people, demons, and hybrids.
If it weren’t for their meddling attitudes, gossips, and traditions, Misa would cease to exist in the physical realm.
The purpose of her existence is the destruction of the demon king Anos. One of her abilities is “Spirit Rain Mist”, in which she is able to alter rain droplets and shape them into human-like forms.
She may be just a quiet human-demon hybrid, but Misha is able to defy her destiny by making sure she does not cease to exist in the physical realm. Her ancestor, Ivis Necron, created her so she can be a vessel to Anos’ reincarnated soul.
In any case, Ivis views Misha as a tool. However, there’s more to Misha than meets the eye. As a young child, she helped Sasha control her powers.
Therefore, Misha can stay beside Sasha because she is the only one capable of gazing directly into the latter’s deathly demonic eyes.
One of her spell-casting ability is “Creative Architecture” that enables her to create barriers during battles and castles.
Have you ever heard the phrase, “If only looks could kill?” Well, for a noble like Sasha, “Demon Eyes of Destruction” is actually a magical ability.
Anyone or anything gazing upon her striking violet eyes would trigger self-destruction — the onlookers would literally be crushed to death!
As the “Witch of Destruction”, Sasha’s controls the severity that her magical eyes can inflict on others — she controls at will whether a person receives damage.
Upon enrolling into a sword dojo at the age of 5, this dignified man has been known since as “The Demon Sword Saint”.
His demon swords enabled him to compete ferociously in battle, especially when he possesses no magical abilities. On top of it, he participated in many competitions and even defeated his dojo master at a young age on the 3rd day of his enrollment.
Finally, he wielded the “Spirit God Human Sword” to manipulate Anos’ reincarnated fate.
He is Anos’ right-hand man, a leader of a faction to which he’s known to be the strongest demon swordsman.
His lethal weapons are all demon swords, some of which can inflict curses by muting, blinding, and murdering the inflicted. His other swords absorb the spells of his opponents.
With these swords, it’s no wonder he’s demonstrates authority in the “Unitary” demon faction, a group of demons whose solitary goal is to unite mixed-blood with those of the royals.
Ivis is an ancient magician whose cunning mind and spell-casting abilities go hand-in-hand during magical combats.
The skeletal image he possesses is Anos Voldigoad’s responsibility since Anos created Ivis using his own blood two millennia ago.
Ivis is a member of the “Seven Elder Demon Emperors”, which consists of demons formed through Anos’ ancient magic.
Aside from that, Ivis is capable of casting “Separation and Fusion Reincarnation“, a method to form a temporary container for lost souls.
That is to say, Ivis can create vessels for souls to possess upon when it’s time for the souls to be reincarnated in the physical realm.
Anos Voldigoad is the strongest character in the series, not only because he’s reincarnated as the “Demon King of Tyranny” after over two millennia, but rather because he demonstrates overwhelming and absolute power through “Origin Magic Immunity”.
In other words, he is immune to the magic of spellcasters who borrow the powers of their god (since Anos is that god himself).
In addition to magic immunity, Anos mastered the “fusion spell”, which other beings spent over two millennia to study and practice.
He can also revive deceased magicians into zombies. After asserting his status among his peers, we can confidently say Anos Voldigoad is the strongest character in the show.

The series initially began as an amateur web novel in April 2017 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It was later acquired by ASCII Media Works, which officially began to publish it in March 2018.

It tells the story of History’s Strongest Demon King, who reincarnates after 2000 years and goes to Delsgade School (which trains young demons) with his descendants.
However, after his reincarnation, he finds out that the world is too used to peace that his descendants became too weak due to a colossal weakening in magical powers.Originally Written By Epic Dope
