New Film Debuts in January 2021

The “Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199” and the “Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202” anime will be combined into a single film.
Both series were animated by Xebec. They are a remake of the original Yamato series. The two anime series are streamed by Funimation.
The official website of Space Battleship Yamato announced the debut date of the new film “Space Battleship Yamato Era: The Choice in 2202" as Jan 15, 2021.
Space Battleship Yamato Era: The Choice in 2202 is listed with 120 minutes of runtime and will be screened in 36 theatres in Japan for 3 weeks.
A new sequel project of the franchise called Space Battleship Yamato 2205: A New Journey will be released next winter in Japan.
“Space Battleship Yamato 2199” debuted in Japan in 2012 while “2202” debuted in 2017. The compiled film mainly focuses on the 2202 story.
Space Battleship Yamato is a science fiction anime franchise originally written by Yoshinobu Nishizaki. It led to the rise of other anime in the sci-fi genre.
