The 1st episode of the much anticipated anime Jujutsu Kaisen was streamed at the Kyoto International Manga/Anime Fair 2020 on 20th September.
The anime starts in between the events (medias res), unlike in the manga. Yuji is seen waking up in a room full of locks and charms to prevent curses.
The first person he faces as he opens his eyes is Satoru Gojo, who says to him, “You are destined to die.” The rest of the episode follows the original plotline.
The central event of Yuji swallowing Sukuna's finger occurs in this episode itself. The episode ends in a cliffhanger as Megumi gets ready to kill Yuji.
MAPPA did a great job in the animation, and the action scenes are quite fluid and the comic elements quite lively. We even get to see Itadori’s gorilla-like strength.
The second episode will be released in October. Megumi and Gojo will realize that Yuji has the potential to destroy all the curses.
Yuji has two choices in front of him: immediate execution or death after destroying the curses and swallowing all of Sukuna's cursed parts.
