Mugen Train was released on Oct 16th & seems to have grossed over US$30 Million in the first three days of screening in Japan.
The nos. might not be the final calculated amount, but the first day of screening gathered over US$9.48 Million.
In comparison, 'Your Name,' grossed about US$12.51 Mil. in the first three days in the year 2016. 'Frozen 2' earned US$18.2 Mil. in its first week.
The film was screened in 403 theatres throughout Japan, some IMAX theatres even reported having screened the movie 40 times on days of screening.
If the popularity of the film continues the rest of the screening days, the movie might just become one of the highest-grossing anime movies of all time.
