In Black Clover's recent chapter, we see that the devil resembles Asta & apparently, it's the form it would take if he possesses Asta's body.
Asta is threatened to lose his body, but, Asta can't sense any killing lust from the devil. On the contrary, it's willing to make Asta stronger.
Asta's past has been kept under covers so far. But, during the fight, the devil starts seeing a resemblance of Asta with someone, Asta's mom!
The devil must have a deep connection with her for the image to suddenly pop up. Especially since she didn't consider him evil, despite being a devil.
The devil must be extremely connected to Asta's parents & their passing must have led him to hate the devils who caused their eventual deaths.
